Thinking of all the Bass Players I've ever seen, whether in person or on TV...I'd have to answer NO and say that the numbers (or images) speak for themselves! :)

I think some people can just play any instrument you hand them.

But, if they're doing it just to fill a void you can definitely tell.

i agree. the majority of the bass players that i have seen are thin. so i guess that big guys like myself are the exception to the rule. besides like dmfj said, "somebody has to protect scrawny lead singers".
