yeah, lots of amps were left out, but thats ok. were only talking about CERTAIN amps.
Personally i feel a good guitarist can sound good with any amp. with tweaking and shit. ill never be able to buy a $2000 amp, expecially with not being in a coverband and getting those coverband rates!!!
allthough, maybe i could do it long enough to get an highdollar amp then quit. wait that would be selling out i think. i could always whore myself out.
ill give that some thought.

oh yeah, high dollar amps dont make great players. ive seen quite a few players with expensive rigs that sound like pure poo goo. must be an "in" thing.
i only played one tube amp, and i hated it. not a very good impression on expensive amps.

Yeah, I used to hate tube amps as well...You just have to find one that works for what you like...It took me a long time to find the right one (and a lot of saving!)...I'll never go back to solid state stuff, they just don't have the three dimensional quality that a tube amp does...They're a living, breathing instrument and just like us guitar players, they are very finicky...That's just my taste and opinion...And I always go against the grain when it comes to gear and tone...I'm definitely not in the "in" crowd, lol...Which do you prefer?

Am REALLY tempted at getting one...or more....and trying different

I just ordered a new Koch StudioTone head. This is Paul Reed Smith's favorite amp company and he recommends them for his guitars. This is an EL84 Class A amp (my favorite power configuration) and should sound good with my Cu24. After 35 years of just about every tube Marshall and Boogie Mark series ever made I'm hoping this is finally a keeper.

Mesa Boogie for me. It fits like a glove. It took me awhile to the cash up for it; but its like a Harley... it wont lose value.

Give me a pre CBS blackface fender - they have the texture, basic tone and fit into a mix better than anything else I've played. My favorites are pro reverb combo and the old 2X12 piggyback bassman. The reissues blackface amps are OK, but lack the reliability of the early -mid 60's amps.

I have played through hundreds of amps and must vote for dr z amps.. they make a wide variety i prefer the maz 38 with reverb..

Here's another one - I have a Vox AC30 that was hot-rodded by "stacking the channels". The brilliant channel is the clean one, so to speak, and by plugging into the "normal" channel, the preamp stage now preamps the preamp stage of the brilliant channel. Must be similar to Clapton's Marshall mod from the late 60's...Anyhow, that puppy is SWEET!!

I still keep coming back to Orange. I have been notoriously bad about keeping any amp for very long, but the Rockerverb 100 is an amazing amp. I'm considering taking a step up and buying a Matamp. For those unfamiliar, Matamp used to make Orange and then sold off the Orange rights and kept fairly to themselves. They make some really interesting amps. I may dump my entire tax return into one this year.

My dad still has his Beta Bass combo. He traded his Fender Bassman 10 in on it down at Ford's. It's one of the only bass amps in which I turn down the mids. That thing has a buttload of mids.

I also like to think of amps and gear as a hobby in itself. Sure I play guitar, I also like to try different amps and pedals. All of this is pretty much all I do besides go to work and raise my kid. I don't smoke, I barely drink and I've never done any illicit substances. Maybe I should.

I'd say that is from '93 until now. As for how much I spent, a lot of those were trades or some other kind of deal. I know that a few were straight up purchases, but they usually went to something else and so on. I like to try new stuff and I don't really care what other people think about it. It could be drugs, it's not.
