I just noticed on their website that Real Be Easys are coming to City Limits on Sept. 1. Based on how I'm digging their CD, I plan to be there...

Meshuggah, et. al.

For solid punk (not even close to emo lest one confuse the two!) check out The Thermals The Body, The Blood and the Machine. Lyrically superb with great production and writing. Solid effort from up north in Canada where the best indie music seems to be coming from at the moment (Metric, Broken Social Scene, New Pornographers, etc.)

Not new but Meshuggah's Catch 33 still messes with my brain and I love it. Helmet's Monochrome is not as good as Betty but since it's Helmet it is still above average. The Bravery's new one is a good one for the summer... Celtic Frost's Monotheist will mess with you too... Clutch's Exodus is last year, but awesome. Also Opeth's Ghost Reveries is still great as well as the SunnO)))/Boris collaboration called Altar which is really abstract and meditative death, drone.

On the lighter side Rush's new one is a surprising mix of their old school tendencies with their newer song-writing format. Best stuff since Moving Pictures and Counterparts - kind of like those two combined. I have also been listening to a lot of Midwestern "Post Rock" like Appleseed Cast, Explosions in the Sky, and This Will Destroy You. All solid stuff. For the shoegazer in all of us check out Hammock's latest and a band called the Daysleepers who has two solid EP's out.

UNEARTHA7XMatt wrote:What sucks is UNEARTH just recently Parted ways with their Drummer. That dude is awesome tho and Ken Susi and Buzz McGrath are amazing guitarists. They are definately underrated. If you like In The Eyes Of Fire you would love The Oncoming Storm. Its the album right before III... Check it out..
That's a kick ass album. As much as I like "The Great Dividers," I can't stop listening to "Aries." I just picked up "Constitution of Treason IV" (I think it's called) by God Forbid. I think I heard of them from either one of the Headbanger's Ball CD's or Metal for the Masses CD's, with the song "The End of the World" and when I picked up the album and listened to that song again all I can think is they needed that intro on the compilation album. Not that I think it sucks without it, but it gave me a total different vibe of the song with it, and it was a good vibe.
