Yeah Steve, And unfortunately, it seems that RockPage is quickly being overrun by "metal" music enthusiasts.nightcrawler_steve wrote:.....about as much as I like a root canal. Ooooops offended the metal pagersBaceman Spiff wrote:Yes but you like it!nightcrawler_steve wrote:slayer sucks ass
Most of the die-hard (and entertaining) posters have faded away. I usually check-in with RP once a day, but it's just not interesting anymore.
Oh well, in the words of the all seeing mystics (Steely Dan) from their song "Kid Charlemagne",
"All those day-glo freaks who used to paint their face, they've joined the human race - some things will never change".

I think most everybody knows that "Mustang Sally" & "Brown-Eyed Girl" have to be the most requested songs around this area & have been for years. And really, who actually thinks that any bar band is gonna play Slayer? I've heard this & it's just to heckle the band or to test the group's sense of humor. I seriously doubt that the person or persons making that request even knows the name of even 1 Slayer song - I don't. Slayer has to have immense talent to play that brand of material. I'm just not into it.
I gave you my heart. Whatever God gave me.

I used to get the occasional Johnny Cash request back when I played metal. Who'd have known the metal crowd would actually dig that for real now?
You guys are lucky to have not played in a 90's country band (which was really country-flavored rock and pop, don't get me started on what constitutes real country music). I've heard sooooo many requests for Achey Breaky Heart, The Shake, and Friends In Low Places. Old Time Rock & Roll and Margaritaville still top my list, though.
Plus, I hate requests for chick songs. Really, don't let the man-boobs fool ya, downstairs, I look like a flesh-colored baseball bat with a urethra.

We actually got two requests last Saturday for The Electric Boogie by Marcia Griffiths. (Of course, most people think the name of the song is The Electric Slide). We have gotten that request before. Fortunately, I always carry a CD of songs like that and I was able to offer to play it on our break and made them happy. Regardless, we don't do that song or any songs sung by females because we would not sound very good doing them. We have also gotten requests for Madonna, Pat Benatar, and others. People think 3 guys can sound like any song they want.songsmith wrote:Plus, I hate requests for chick songs.
