To Vote Or Not to Vote that is the Question!

Post by jangel »

I am not trying to start a flamer here nor continue on a locked thread. If the moderator feels he needs to blow it away so be it.
I don't care what affiliation people are as long as they vote. Politicians listen to voters...they are the ones that got them the job....want to keep your job you listen to the people that got you there. Wonder why senior citizens get heard...they vote. they belong to groups that push their issues like AARP and there are others. the power is in the blocks of voters.
thats why every musician 18 yrs and older should register to vote. The people or fans on this page that want to protect "live music" need to register to vote. Lets "BAND" together and make ourselves "heard" outside this "Establishment".

Voting ...to vote or not to vote...that is the question!
Where there is light, there is Hope!

Amen.

( :) There's nothing wrong with the old fashioned paper ballots I've always used in PA. It may take a little longer to count such ballots, but then again, there's no way for anyone - no matter what political party - to rig them, either.)

Here's how I feel about it. Voting is a right guaranteed by the constitution. If you vote, IMO you also have the right to bitch about how things are done. If you don't vote, you should lose your right to bitch. Simple enough! :)
I love it when a plan comes together.

I agree with what everyone is saying here, but would just like to add something to it.

You have the right to vote.

But, if you are going to vote, you have a responsibility to educate yourself on the candidates. Know what they stand for and vote according to your own beliefs. But, if you don't have any idea - please don't vote just for the sake of voting!!

WHAT? You don't think someone should go in and vote straight party because they are "Democrat" or "Republican"? Why how could any Democrat vote for someone of a different party or vice versa? (sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm)

I agree 100%, byndrsn:!:

I vote the my conscience, my person, then my party. I don't let my party label me, as to who I have to vote for. I'm a democrat. I didn't vote for this Bush, either time (I'm confortable in saying).

I think any person, regardless of party, who does not vote, is just giving the man one more way to stick it to us.

I agree with what Jangel is sayin. We as Musicians/Club owners/Fans of live music ,ect .must band together to stand up for what we believe in! LIVE MUSIC
Numbers speak volumes and it don't matter what political affiliation you are we all must come together to reach common ground, To loosen up the laws concerning live entertainment, noise, ect. All that the PLC decide is our fault to make money from the club owners.
Or they listens to joe schmoo home owner who is 6 miles away but can hear the tiolet flush in the bar at closin time and it wakes them up and it's the bar owner/ juke box/bands fault that tiolet is keeping them up

i kinda take George Carlin's stance on this issue... I feel if you DONT vote you CAN bitch - because you didn't elect the guy. HaHa

in all seriousness, I feel you have the responsibility as a citizen, to register and vote - keeps the balance going. You also have the responsibility to educate yourself and be a human being - don't let Sean Hannity tell you who to vote for, be a fucking human being and think for yourself.

Im a democrat - I have voted in EVERY election since I have been registered, in both Huntingdon and Lebanon counties. But I havent voted straight party in ANY elections. In 2004 I voted for John Kerry, and Joe Hoeffel - Kerry won PA, but lost the election - Hoeffel lost his election to Arlin Spector. I also voted for some Republicans, and if the chance ever came up .. I would vote for John McCain over MOST Democrats (exceptions are Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Howard Dean or Barack Obama) but I feel you cant honesty be totally conservative or liberal about every single issue known to man..

When it comes to Gun Control - I'm very liberal..
When it comes to Seperation of Church and state.. Im liberal..
When it comes to gay marriage.. Im very liberal..
When it comes to Iraq and Iran.. Im liberal

but..

When it comes to Abortion, I'm moderate/pushing conservative (I have my beliefs, I wont express them here)

When it comes to defense, and National security.. Im a moderate (I believe we should make sure WE are safe, home and abroad - do I feel we should invade every country who takes a stance against us.. NO, but I feel we should atleast be safe - but we should do it diplomaticly, and not with force..)

eh, i dunno - just my opinion.. i could be wrong

I don't vote.

The less the government knows about me the better off I am is how I see it.

No vote no bitch.... Who made you king?

I think politics in this country are a joke.... The process just is not the way our forefathers designed it. Tobacco lobbyists, oil lobbyist, prescription drug manufacturers Etc.... Etc... These are who puts people in office and I don't believe my vote would count.

Sorry for not stepping in line and getting on the I VOTE band wagon but I choose not to. And I have the right to choose not to.

As far a living near loud bars is concerned. I lived about 100 yards away from one of the loudest of them all and YES it did keep me up 4 nights a week. I couldn't wait until my lease was up to get away from that place.... people stepping out to do drugs in the parking lot. Drunks even women squatting in my back yard taking a piss. Idiots dumping trash, beer cans pizza boxes etc. on my lawn. The police there for brawls at 2:00 in the morning. It was really a load of crap for someone that had to get up at 6AM to go and work. These one time quiet neighborhood taverns are being used as clubs for which they were never designed. Most of these bars where at one time even houses. Downtown Altoona is the perfect spawning ground for clubs. No one lives close and there are plenty of empty buildings which would be perfect for a club. I do believe there are one or two old clubs like the Eagles that someone, with some capital and imagination, could create the perfect spot for bands to play. I've lived in larger cities, LA, Pitt. DC and some others and clubs for bands are not in residential areas. But Altoona is a little different now isn't it?

eh this is what Im thinking 2008 will look like

GOP Candidates:
1) John McCain
2) Rudy Guilliani
3)Condeleeza Rice
4) Jeb Bush

Democrat Candidates:
1) Howard Dean
2) Hillary Clinton
3) John F. Kerry
4) Al Gore? (possibly)
5) Barak Obama
6) Gov. Warner (Virginia)

I list so many Democrats because you never know - plus you'll have the usual cast of clowns (Sharpton.. ect) who always run and put on a big show..

Jeb Bush will run.. but i guarantee you, NOBODY will elect another Bush in office ever again.

From your keyboard to God's e-mail

I gotta say I'm quite encouraged by the number of you who declare that A) you vote and B) how seriously you take it.

The more we all participate in Government, the better it works, not paying attention to the laws that get passed is how we got in this situation with the PLCB but getting involved is how we are going to fix it.

I rather see Hillary LEGALLY ELECTED President than what I heard was basically a done deal years ago, that Jeb WILL BE the next President...gee, I wonder, how can they POSSIBLY be so CERTAIN? I'll Vote, because I believe every Vote SHOULD count. It's a Right my ancestors fought for and I don't take it lightly. Many Democrats I know of Vote outisde of party lines, myself included. I can safely say :) that my Vote is not influenced in any way, shape or form by Oil or Tobacco lobbyists. Maybe the "powers that be" will one day wake up, have a conscience - you know, a Soul...and we'll again have fair Elections that aren't MASSIVELY questioned - it COULD happen!!! IF there hadn't been so many irregularities surrounding the last two Presidentail Elections, say as with Reagan and Bush Sr. - they WERE "Elected" - I wouldn't have been happy about the results and Dubya being President, but I'd have ACCEPTED it. He is nothing but a Dictator in my eyes. I don't care if people are young college students or elderly, they have a RIGHT to easily Vote for who they want and for that Vote to COUNT, no matter their political party. How decent people can read, also hear account after account, be confronted with all of it, and not be totally fed up with what transpired during those Elections - no matter their political party - is I suppose, beyond my understanding. "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!"...or maybe you simply don't care, as long as who you want in takes over, who cares how they got there...to you the ends justify the means. Sad.
