Hi, Ronny! I understand you're trying to get the attention of the local venues, in an effort to book more gigs, right? No harm there, but this (posting in General Discussion) isn't the best way. I've been checking out rockpage for awhile now, and finally decided to join because I just hate keeping my mouth shut. So here's my constructive criticism, no "busting."
Make yourself a signature, so when you do post on rockpage, people know who you are, what band you're trying to promote. I had to look into the other post to even see what band you are in. Half Tempted! Great, now that I know, I'll be sure to check you guys out. Okay, so that's something you might want to throw in your signature. Maybe instead of a smart ass quote or witty thought you could say you're currently booking gigs in the Central PA area, and throw in a contact email or phone #. When people see the band name in the signature, they're more likely to check out your band page on RockPage too. I did, and it looks like you've got a lot of gigs booked already, which is awesome.
JP has a really helpful list of Venues with contact information in the JP's Corner forum, I think it's the 2nd Sticky. What a great resourse for the local bands! Contact the venues you don't have gigs with yet, and get them your press kit. If you don't have a press kit, make one. If you don't know how, or don't think you have the marketing savy to do it yourself, let me know and I can help.

The point was that General Discussion isn't the place for promotion. If everyone made a post that there band was looking for bookings the general discussion column would be cluttered with promotion, the musicians/bands wanted needed column is for promotion. So the reason you were busted on is because you were outta place wich is understandable if you are not familiar with forums................ now stop whining and move on
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.

I couldn't help but LOL! How many years have you been in the biz? "Do you need help with a press kit?"
morningangel, that was very nice of you, though! I can't bust on you Ronnyd, you always make me smile! "Otis, my man!" ...if not LMAO!
Ronnyd's been on RockPage quite a while, he "usually" knows what he's doing.

Consider yourself busted!
Seriously Ron, do you have any situations where you might have use for my show? I have warmed up bands in the past and it works out really well, especially with the 5 minute teardown.

Promote the hell out of everything. Why do you think that I just arbitrarily plug shows in the middle of flame wars? Controversy sells, no matter how smalle of a cultural scale it is on. I respect anybody who promotes, because it means that they actually have a clue. They're usually ones who ARE NOT bitching that they've only played two shows and they aren't setting record attendances at venues.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
You all continue to take this forum and discussions BEYOND REASON. Why continue to take these discussions BEYOND the posters intentions? There's just no REASON to pick apart and bust another musician this way.... of course, I think I would go above and BEYOND anyone while promoting my band on this thread if given a good REASON
Come see Beyond Reason @ the Hitching Post Feb. 4th!!
