Half-Tempted Jam Night

Post by songsmith »

The Half Tempted jam last night was a trip back in time to the Old Sab's... Thanks, RonnyD for inviting the missus and I. It was good to see all the jammers from 15+ years ago, like Joe George, Jimmy High, Steve Oswald, Bobby Watters, Richie Piccerillo, Zilly... all those guys did a great job. Ronny kept things moving, what a frontman. We had a pretty respectable crowd, too, and, I'm guessing here of course, but I think a BUNCH of drinks were purchased. All the old Sab's vibe was still there. I told Claudio I met my wife at a Sab's Jam, and I never forgave him for it. :D Thanks for a good time, everyone.
I also caught the Deathmaster appearing with his backing band, Beyond Reason, at Victory Lane... there's a great bunch of guys, all good-natured and easy-going, and poor Dan with a sore voice (me too, dude) singing well anyway. I was so impressed I stole Tom's guitar before I left, then gave it back before he noticed.
All in all, I enjoyed my rare Saturday night off from playing, and I'd say Toona town still has the shiznit.--------->JMS

Agreed, that was an absolute blast! It was like the old Sebastiano's Hotel days, only there was room to move around and no fights!

I started out the night at the 4D's, checking out Go Go Gadjet in their first Altoona appearance. Excellent funk/dance/hip-hop band that laid down nonstop grooves; tight players too. If you like The Collective, this group is in a similar vein. Unfortunately, they were the new band in town, so only a minimal crowd showed up to take a chance to check them out. Also cool to touch base with Rockpagers onetooloud and bugglez24 behind the sound and light consoles, good lazers and EN_ER_GY!

Go Go Gadjet, making their Altoona debut. No crowd this night, but I expect that won’t last long once word about their party gets out.

Then I headed to City Limits for the Half Tempted jam, which was in full swing – as songsmith said, great to see all the old Sabs "legends" together and jamming out; also Weezie, a few Banditos towards the end, and lots of Rockpagers in the house. Thanks RonnyD for putting it together, here's hoping parties like that happen more often!

Some photos from this legendary night…

Well it's been over two years since I played on a stage. And I gotta say I missed the shit out of it. It was fantastic to play with some of the best musicians in the Altoona area. It was also special to jam with my cousin Jimmy High. Since we are both bass players by trade, that has never happened before. Thanks to all who let me linger on stage most of the night, and a special thanks to Ronny D. for inviting me. I think we should make that a yearly Holiday get together!

Did I ever thank you for the invite, Ronnyd? I meant to, but can't remember if I did.
I had a great time dancing with Mrs. Songsmith and then at the end of the night, Mrs. Hurricane called to me and I left rather quickly, but you just know I had a blast! THANK YOU! :D
