Type O Negative

Post by SpellboundByMetal »

as some of you may know, Type O Negative is my absolute fav band.
EVERY album kicks ass.

Slow, Deep and Hard- 1991
Origin of the Feces- 1992 (fake "live" album)
Bloody Kisses- 1993
October Rust- 1996
World Coming Down- 1999
Life is Killing Me- 2003

i know some of you like TON, whats your fav song/album?
would anyone want to do a few TON songs? maybe play them out once or twice. id like to do a few TON songs for the hell of it. not many bands do TON songs. id be willing to do : vocals, guitar or bass. obviously not all of them!
i was think of doing maybe only 3 songs or so. different people on each song. im sure other people can do pete's vocal style.
i could and would do ANY song by them. this would be a slightly "back burner" project. obviously our main projects come first. if anyone is interested , let me know.

I was in a band in the mid 90's called DeliriuM and we covered Black No. 1 and some of Christian Woman. That was always fun stuff. I used to do vocals on the first part of the chorus in BN1.

Ahhhh...memories. :)

the songs i was thinking of are:
1. "unsucessfully coping with the natural beauty of infidelity (i know youre
fucking someone else) "
2. "Blood & fire"
3. "love you to death"
4. "kill all the white people"

just ideas. "black no. 1" would be cool, but everyone that covers TON does that song. great song though. id do it i guess :)

i can honestly say i like every type o negative song.
they are just so original. i have about 75 or so bootlegs just of them in my collection on vhs & cd. i even have the show where peter says "we arent called 'Repulsion' anymore. we're 'type o negative' now."
im one of those jackasses that got the green "o negative" tattoo on my shoulder.

"Christian Woman" and "In Praise of Bacchus" are among my favorites; "Love You to Death" ranks pretty high up there, too.

I remember a few years ago, when the Queensryche tribute band Empire played at new Sebastiano's (pre-City Limits), their singer told me he'd like to front a Type O tribute band someday. That would be a cool project for somebody with a low singing voice to tackle someday!

"in praise of bacchus" is AWESOME!!! its all good!
even pete's Carnivore and Fallout projects were good. the fallout stuff is RARE. recorded in 1981. of course, i have it :)
pete sings on a song from the new roadrunner united album called "enemy of the state". i think he's singing in russian, haha.

they have been demo-ing songs for their new album for a 2006 release on SPV records. i cant wait! i loved "life is killing me". pete's humor started to return, which is a good thing. they take too damn long to finish records. pete's health scare didnt help that much. he needs to quit coke. hopefully he has. he looked really rough on their last tour.

October Rust is one of my favorite albums of all time. I also dig World Coming Down. Pete plays a cool bassline on Everything Dies.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

I remember Carnivore way back in '91. When I was into the Death Metal scene hardcore. They were great and some of the earlier Type-O stuff reminded me of Carnivore. Remember S.M.D. ????

I love Type O Negative. Seen em 3x live. Own every disc. Owned almost all the tshirts they ever printed. The DVD. Danced to them at my wedding, using Love You to Death for the first dance. Stood outside the Metropol in pouring down rain to meet em. Would I want to get together and jam a few tunes? No. Id rather write my own music than sit around and figure someone elses out and do a half ass version of it just to say I did it for shits and giggles. I mean no disrespect to you, but that aint the way I would wanna spend a free weekend.

I am looking forward to the new album.

Peter's lyrics in his songs are amazing i keep believe some of things that he can come up with. Very cool how his lyrics are arranged.
