COULD SOMEONE PLEASE FIGURE OUT WHO HAS THE VIRUS!!!! i am sooo very tired of getting the fucking emails in dutch or german, my scan came up clean another friend emailed me and said they had it narrowed down to an adelphia ip address out of rockpage and are trying to narrow it down further. please do a virus scan on your computers and get it taken care of.

There is no such thing as an "adelphia ip address out of rockpage". This site has nothing to do with the Sober email worm. The Sober worm can only infect Windows computers, and Rockpage runs on Linux, so it is impossible for the site to be "infected" or for any emails to be generated from here.

Someone out there is infected, and your email information is in their address book. Also make sure that your virus scanner is updated, since the newest version of Sober is only a few days old. Also make sure that your Windows installation is up to date.

If you let me know what the adelphia IP address is, I may be able to track down the culprit by searching for posts with the same IP.

I'm also moving this to the "Help" section.

Yea that's the newest bad ass worm huh?

I work for the state and our outlook servers, even the OWA (Outlook Web Access) computers sent that one around a few days ago and our mail is as secure as you can get.

P.S. If anyone cares it is German not Dutch..

hey ron,

i am the original computer moron and technical shit gives me a headache, calvin from serious jones emailed me the info i posted so he would know more about it than i would. i just passed the message on. but what has me interested is "who exactly is the whore in the emails and how do you live like a german???"

all updates are done on my computer every day because i get paranoid about viruses and worms, my daughter is the computer whiz and she makes sure everything is done properly, i have been checking twice a day now since this happened and called adelphia to check also, its not funny for whoever it happened to because every email address that they have in their address book is being sent to everyone else, gotta be a little embarrassing.

The source of these emails is someone's personal machine, and they probably have no idea what their machine is doing in the background, or that it is even infected.
I haven't received any of these emails, so I can't track down the offender. Email filters should soon be available for ISP's, so you should see an end to the emails as soon as the filters are installed.

i got 55 of them in my mail today. calvin/ serious jones have you found anything else out? and to be honest i do recognize some of the addresses. especially the getinwithin and a few other rock pager names, i did email a couple of the names i recognized and that is how i got the answer from calvin.

The worm is finding those addresses in the infected computer's address book, so the supposed senders of the emails probably aren't the real source. I doubt that many people keep their own email address in their address book.

i do understand that, what i am saying is we were trying to narrow it down to common ground. who would have my email and the other familiar people in their address book together. it is too much for my little brain to think about, technical shit is better left to those that know what they are doing and talking about. i know what the delete button on my inbox is for so i will just continue to use it every day.

Hey Jones,
What is the IP address that you traced to adelphia? I should be able to match it to a username, which will be a lot easier than trying to trace through adelphia to a specific account.

I'm not sure. I never got them, and the post above was the last that becky has made. Good ISP's have probably installed blockers for the nasty emails.
