Anyone heard this box set yet ??? I got it and I have to tell you that there are some of his classic GREAT songs, originals like "crazy Train", and "Mr. Crawley". He also has some live songs on it (Obvious play off of "Live and Loud"). That is where the Great Ozzy Ends .. He has remakes on this also. He does a remake of "changes" with his daughter, a remake of "born to be wild" with miss piggy, yes you heard me right - he does a duet with miss piggy, and "staying alive" with dweezle zappa. There are some more remakes on it also. I didn't listen to them all, after hearing him with miss piggy I took out of the cd player.
I can't believe he would do that. I mean is he starving for money or something ?? or did he just totally sell out. It seems that every since he got his tv show he went more and more down the tubes. I want the old ozzy to come back, back in the day he was great. I still listen to the old ozzy, with and without black sabbath. I have every one of his cd's ...
As for this cd, I think it should be called "Prince of Humiliation". Like I said, there are some great songs on it. "Diary Of A Madman" is the best one, but duets with puppets just don't work .. That is my take on it anyhow - What does anyone else think ??
I will note that he did a great job with the remake of "All The Young Dudes" .. and N.I.B with Primus I can really dig , Les Claypool is one of te best bass players I have ever heard ..
Ozzy Osbourne - Prince Of Darkness , should be called ....

Ozzy, former Prince of Darkness, should be called:
Ozzy, reality sitcom dad.
In all fairness he has no clue what's going on. His bitch wife is the one running the show and fucking him up. She's the one who ruined him by wanting to be a star and make their kids stars. At some point he could have stopped it but, without her, he'd probably die, seriously.

If youth knew; if age could.
I'll have a review of Prince Of Darkness up on "JP's Corner" in the next few days; but according to the liner notes, Ozzy's record company came up with the idea of the boxed set at this point in his career. The first two discs feature the most noteworthy songs of his post-Sabbath solo career, including alternate takes and early demos. Disc three compiles all the stuff Ozzy did with other bands and artists (including, yes, Miss Piggy), and Disc four is his remakes (which, according to Ozzy, will likely be the direction of his next CD, another album of remakes).
As such, the boxed set pulls together a lot of the loose ends and curios from Ozzy's solo career into one package. I think it's a satisfactory set, particularly for Ozzy fans and collectors who want to have his overall body of work collected into one place.

Kelly Osbourne having a recording career was what happens when nepotism takes precedence over skill and talent. If she weren't Ozzy's daughter, any A&R man would have to be out of his fucking mind to sign her. Remember that "Shut Up" tune or whatever the hell it was called? It sounded like it was written by a six year old, not to mention how horribly out of key she sang it.
Sorry just had to vent.

Very true, but it could also be argued that if it weren't for Sharon, Ozzy would have remained in his drug-induced slump after being kicked out of Black Sabbath. He may have died pennyless and would have been remembered as the guy who sang in Sabbath before Dio took over.In all fairness he has no clue what's going on. "He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Does this have that cover of Mississippi Queen?
I cringe every time I hear it. The vocals are whiney and the guitar is soooo distorted and imprecise when compared to West's strong vocals and powerful use of the unique sound of a Flying V.

I give that more to Randy Rhoads than to Sharon IMO...He saved Ozzy's career with his brilliant playing. Ozzy has even said it.bassist_25 wrote:Kelly Osbourne having a recording career was what happens when nepotism takes precedence over skill and talent. Ozzy did that duet with Miss Piggy years ago...way before he, as it is said "sold out". Although I care less, cause the man still puts on a great show, and entertains the hell out of you, he doesn't have to walk around like satan all of the time. He's legit....he has enough history...he's another normal guy who plays music, if they made a reality show of a rockpager's life, would we be dark, brooding, and full of musical integrity all of the time???
