13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson, a psychedelic rock icon, has died of unknown causes at age 71.
“Roky Erickson, an heroic icon of modern rock & roll and one of the best friends the music ever had, died in Austin, Texas today, Erickson’s rep confirmed to Rolling Stone.
“Born there on July 15, 1947, Erickson had a visionary zeal rarely seen in 1965 when he co-founded the 13th Floor Elevators. The band’s original songs, many written with lyricist Tommy Hall, coupled with Erickson’s super-charged vocals and guitar sparked the psychedelic music revolution in the mid-1960s, and led to a new role of what rock could be.

Guitarist David D. Hescox, 74, of Bellwood, PA.
Dave died Saturday night at UPMC Altoona. He was part of the first band I ever played in. The band "Dave and the Knights" was a part of the Bellwood area music scene in the 1960s. Dave played rhythm and lead guitar along with Dave Garland on lead and rhythm guitar. Denny Johnson was the drummer and I played bass. Fond memories of a different time. Obituary is in the Altoona Mirror

Ric Ocasek, famed frontman for The Cars, was found dead Sunday in a Manhattan apartment. The New York City Police Department told CBS News he "was found deceased earlier today." The Cars' chart-topping hits in the late 1970s and 1980s included "Just What I Needed," "Shake It Up" and "Drive." The band was inducted last year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In May of 2018, model and actress Paulina Porizkova announced on social media that she and Ocasek had separated after 28 years of marriage. The pair first met while filming the music video for "Drive."
My Former Band Member Passed Away Friday.
Steve Budesky was an original member of my current band Three Of Hearts. He played guitar and sang with us for two years. His health was getting worse then and he stepped away from the band but he kept doing backup gigs for national acts, solo gigs, and duo gigs.
Steve was an incredible professional musician and singer from the time he was a teenager in the 1960s until his passing. He played with many famous people through the years. His recording and touring history was very impressive. He also was in bands that had records out and he played on numerous other recordings including many Philadelphia soul groups with the famous Bobby Eli and many New York City bands. He was in bands that opened for Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Vanilla Fudge, and too many to list them all. He was in the backing band for Neil Diamond, Little Anthony & The Imperials, The Marcels, The Edsels, The Temptations, The Crystals, The Drifters, Freddy Fender, and others. He knew hundreds of well known acts.
In addition, he played bass guitar in several acts.
Steve was also a first class guitar luthier creating some fine guitars.
