Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the February 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.
We checked out more new recordings that have arrived in the "Homegrown Rocker" mailboxes in recent days. We debuted a number of new songs from Don Hoffman Bluz, Doug Irwin, Black Ridge, Des Sera, Mycenea Worley, Gypsy Piano Blues, Humandala, Attracted to Syn and Behind the Grey. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2000 song by Sanity's Grip from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from New Jersey's John Tagliari, and - finally conquering technical issues - reviewed Habatat's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

On our next program, we will look back on last weekend's 20th annual Millennium Music Conference, which took place at the Best Western Premier Central Hotel and on performance stages around the Harrisburg area. We will share some audio from the event, including interviews with participants plus excerpts from keynote speaker David Ivory's address. And we will feature plenty of music from some of the nearly 300 different bands and artists who attended and showcased during Millennium weekend! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a song from a past band or artist from the archive for our "Local Music Flashback," and review JR Wolf's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"
Upcoming guests and specials include:
MARCH 6 - Kris Moauro (MMC Contest Winner)
MARCH 13 - St. Patty's Day Special

As the annual Grammy Awards were handed out earlier this month in Los Angeles, an area musician accompanied one of the award winners. Jerry Zolten accompanied the Fairfield Four as the group's liaison and to assist with their invited performance during the pre-televised portion of the show. The group won the 2016 Grammy for Best Roots Gospel Album with their album Still Rockin' My Soul, which Jerry wrote liner notes for. It ws his third visit to the Grammy Awards. The Fairfield Four will perform at the annual Delfest in Cumberland, Maryland on Sunday, May 29.
A former area musician appeared in prime time on PBS on Friday night, Feb. 19. Davina Sowers and her group, Davina and the Vagabonds, appeared on the one-hour PBS program The Best of Bluegrass Underground, which recapped the finest performances from the first five seasons of the series. The group's performance appeared along with performances from Lee Ann Womack, Lucinda Williams, Doyle Lawson, Vince Gill, Old Crow Medicine Show and more.
