Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the August 11 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
Once again, it was time to empty out the “Homegrown Rocker” mailboxes this week and explore some of the new recordings that have arrived lately. We debuted a lot of new music, including songs by Second Empire, J.D. Eicher and the Goodnights, Fatality Risen, It Is Written, Sucker, StarChild, Xander Demos, Hopscotch with Landmines and The Company You Keep. Along the way, we updated “Local Music News,” dug a 1982 song by the Tom Brunner Group from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a song from Baltimore rockers King Belvedere! Due to last-minute technical difficulties, we could not air “The Professor’s CD Corner” reviewing StarChild’s Volume II CD; that review will air on next week’s program.
Here is this week's playlist:
HOUR ONE:
THE HAWKS BLUES BAND – “Bottom Shelf Woman”
CHRIS VIPOND AND THE STANLEY STREET BAND – “Escape”
SECOND EMPIRE – “Paradox Nightmare”

SKELL – “Haven’t Decided Yet”
THE COMPANY YOU KEEP – “Selectively Remember the Alamo”

On our next program, we welcome the return of The Lampshades! First formed in Altoona but now calling Pittsburgh their home base, The Lampshades have been working on some new music. We will hear a new song or two, and the group may bring instruments to do a song or two live as well. We will again update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review StarChild’s Volume II CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” The Lampshades return to the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!
