~*~J.F. Roast: Let down or shot down?~*~

Post by esa »

So...Jae and I watched the long anticipated Jeff Foxworthy Roast on Comedy Central. We've been hearing about it on the Radio (Ron White was big promoting it there), on commercials... on everything.

The time approaches! We pause Star Wars and flip to the channel... I curl up next to him (it was cold in that damn room!)...First comic comes on. Second... Third comes and goes. By this time I've cracked a smile maybe once. I turn to look at Jae and ask..."They will eventually get funny, right?" His reply was, "God I hope so."
AND THEY DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The funniest thing I saw all night was them having the George W. Bush impersonator. After the first hour we put Star Wars back on. That was a huge let down. The six people I've talked to today said the same thing... White and Leary were a huge let down as well...

I also noted that they did Blue Collar Comedy tour. Then B.C.C.T. Rides again. Now J.F. Roast. I love the BCCT's...don't get me wrong, but I have a bad feeling they're going to beat this like a dead horse. Till everyone gets sick. Kind of like, "Hey, there's another Jeff Foxworthy CD out. Betcha I know all the skits...."
SO.... were you disappointed with the Roast or what didja think? Didja even bother to watch?

I think the whole redneck comedy thing has been worn out years ago. The only thing that sort of brought it back/revived it, was Larry the Cable Guy and the whole "git r dun" thing. Now that that's driven into the ground, it's going to crawl back into it's hole and die again, albeit slowly and painfully. That show you speak of is probably a good indication of this.

And good riddance. ;)
