Vintage clothing stores?
Anybody know of any vintage clothing stores around Central Pa? Looking for cool 60s/70s garb.
Also looking for a legitimate record store.
Just curious if anyone's got some info.
Thanks.

Isn't Webster's shut down? I went out there a few months back and they looked like they were out of business. Which really sucks because I loved that store. Hot Topic used to also sell vinyl, but it was newer stuff and alot of it sucked but they don't even seem to have that anymore...they're a huge bunch of sellouts though, so its not a surprise.VENTGtr wrote:Webster's, in downtown State, usually have albums.
I think if you're looking for an actual record store (not just the random assortment of records you find at goodwill and the like), you may have to go out to pittsburgh. Of course, I seem to remember a thread on RP a few months ago about ssomeone trying to start a record store around the area, what ever happened with that?
There are two clothing stores in Altoona that market themselves as vintage. One is Mad Lion Gallery on 7th Ave (I was told by a friend that there's some interesting stuff in there including older clothes), and one at the corner of 12th Ave and 11th street. Its listed online as a Goodwill store but I'm pretty sure its privately owned. I've never been in there but I usually drive past there on my way home from work and they always have vintage gowns up in the windows so its worth a try.
If you're looking for vintage record albums (vinyl, CD), you might check in downtown Ebensburg. The name of the store escapes me at the moment, but it used to be the Dollar General, located next to the municipal parking lot along High Street. This store has a ton of used vinyl albums and 45 rpm singles, cassettes, CDs and more. Most are reasonably priced at last check.

Two places in State College come to mind...there is a vintage clothing store on Calder Way but I've never been there just seen it (knowing SC probably over-priced though) and they sell new records (I mean unopened) in the Hookah Lounge there on College Ave near Starbucks.

You've probably passed Sandys closet a hundred times. Its on 12th Ave and always has very nice cocktail dresses and gowns and wedding dresses displayed in the window.
It has been there for decades. I went there once about 20 years ago and i turned around and walked right out. I thought it was some kind of upper class, ritzy shop that i could never afford and didn't want to embarrass myself.
Well, i finally returned about a year ago and went crazy! Very great prices and very unique clothing!
They have amazing handbags and shoes. Of course it all depends on what they had dropped off. Its a consignment shop, so they tend to be a bit more finicky about what they sell. Its higher end things than you would find at goodwill, but still at a great price.
