Music Trivia - The only band to hold this record
Music Trivia - The only band to hold this record
To go along with Frank's music trivia question.
Only one "Band" in music history has even achieved this feat. What band holds the record for placing five albums simultaneously in the top 20 on the Billboard Pop Album Chart, an accomplishment that has never been repeated and four of those albums were in the Top 10 simultaneously?

In 1966, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass sold over 13 million recordings were sold, outselling the Beatles. That same year, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized that Alpert set a new record by placing five albums simultaneously in the top 20 on the Billboard Pop Album Chart, an accomplishment that has never been repeated. In April of that year, four of those albums were in the Top 10 simultaneously.

True, Frank, but my memory of reading the Billboard book told me that their album "Stereo Live" was still in the Top 20 when their next four records hit the top 10. All four subsequent albums went to #1, by the way.f.sciarrillo wrote:Kevin, the question was for five albums. From looking at what you put, the Kingston Trio only four?

That is interesting. Hopefully you can find the book to confirm it. I would be interested in knowing for sure.ToonaRockGuy wrote:True, Frank, but my memory of reading the Billboard book told me that their album "Stereo Live" was still in the Top 20 when their next four records hit the top 10. Edit: I just looked up the album and it was actually called Stereo Concert. It was a live album that came out in 1959. It didn't say anything about consecutive albums in the top 20 or 10 though.
