Yeah, I am still trying to figure out why everyone is after Rush, but not Maher. Bill Maher called women a lot worse than Rush ever did. Not saying that it is acceptable from one and not another. But I don't understand why one is getting the hammer and the other is getting the pass.

Sorry, but if you ask me(which nobody did), you should know what to expect from both of these examples of public figures. You should see this kind of thing coming miles away. Either you avoid it (like I usually do) or you jump into the fire with them, almost like you're looking for a fight.

Just the $.02 from my worthless economy.

Now, I nominate this thread gets moved to the Political Arena(which I have never stepped foot inside) so real battle can be waged. Anybody second?

So because Maher is a "Comedian", he gets a pass? Since his show is political, he donated 1 million dollars to the Obama campaign, and he does fund raisers for the democrats, he is not a comedian. He is a political commentator.

Maher got the pass because he is a liberal. Rush got the bat to the head because he is a conservative. I'm not defending one or the other. I just don't like the double standard. If you boycott one for their actions, then you should boycott another.

Maher did stand up for Rush, so I give him some credit for that.

Frank, I appreciate your opinion, but this is why I avoid political threads. I don't give anyone a pass. Everyone should be held accountable for their words and actions. I don't watch or listen to either of them(as well as numerous others) because of their polarizing effect. I was merely commenting on how people who want to start disagreements will find a way. No matter what bolt of cloth they're cut from, drummer, guitarist, bassist, liberal, republican, democrat....oh your god, the list goes on. Too bad a music rights thread had to suffer because of it.

I'm done, not because somebody is right or wrong, but because it is an endless exchange of opinions that belongs somewhere else(i.e. political arena).

I love Rush -the band, that is. I think this is great, and honestly, if there was someone getting this sort of bad press I wouldn't want him to use my music either. I think this is a smart move by a smart group of guys.
As far as my opinion on Rush Limbaugh goes, this isn't really the first time he's shot his mouth off and gotten in trouble in his career, right? I don't know why everyone's so surprised.

But hell, if you like Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh must seem downright quaint in this day and age.

I don't remember liberal pundits calling Palin a slut or prostitute. There was a book that said she had a predilection for black basketball players, but the only reason anybody cared about that is her fans are so apt to be against racial mixing.
I call her stupid, because she's demonstrably stupid, and a holier-than-thou mean-girl, because she proves it over and over. It's strange that the rightwing talkers are telling their minions to compare this to Sandra Fluke... Palin is an opportunist, and there are very few similarities, except that somebody called her a name. Palin has nothing to do with anything.
I can't believe that Palin is using the whole matter as a platform... she actually thinks she could be picked to be the rightwing candidate at the GOP convention, she's already stumping for a brokered convention.

Please, God. I don't ask you for much. Please make this happen.

PS-- Rush asked for sex tapes. Has anyone asked for a Palin sex tape? Outside of a few middle-aged and elderly white conservatives? I'd just point and laugh, as always.
