One we all need to agree it's great that Bars still support live music. But as a community we should look out for each other as what places are just poor business operations and type of music that goes over well Metal, County, Classic... Just a thought..
I enjoy playing Brownies Tavern and The Redwood Inn. Pay is lower then normal but they have small crowds, no cover charge but the crowds are great.
What Places do you enjoy or should avoid..
Venue Ratings
Brownies is always a fun time. Try out the Oceola VFW...small but always has a great crowd.
Places to avoid...hmm...seems it really depends on the attitude of the owner and or the patrons. Ive been told alot of horror stories about some venues, but honestly cant judge them on that, unless they do that or something similar to your group. We have had a couple places we put on the "Nope not going there again" but in the same sentence, I know bands that have good shows in the same bar...
As well, let me rant on how DJs get in to places and established, and then the bar owners think a LIVE band can come in at the same price....2 different forms of entertainment. Some times they dont realize the equiptment and Time put forth with Live entertainment and you get low-balled to hell and back....

I won't bash any bar owners in a public forum but if you were to say....PM me....I can tell you the ones I certainly would never play for again. With that being said...in my eyes the best place to play is now longer a place you can play....Peter C's. Big John and co. was the easiest and fairest of all the bar owners I ever dealt with. Hated to see that place shut down...the metal scene was never the same after that.
