That is a good point.

I regard and otherwise blatently label people who aggressively wanted Joe Paterno to retire long ago as "Joe-Haters". They were mean-spirited about him then and predictably, they are even worse now.

The nature of Joe-Haters is that they don't like Joe and they really don't care what he did, as long as he suffers for it.

There are a lot of Joe-Haters out there.

I was skimming the channels tonight and took notice that Fox News is airing a special on the Penn State scandal on Saturday at 10:00 Pm.

That's one thing that is surfacing from this situation; the "Penn Stater Haters" unmasking themselves and revealing their ugly sides for all to see. It's definitely revealed the ugly sides of a few people to me already.

It's one thing to be angry at the current administration over what happened. It's quite another to trash an entire university community - students, alumni, employees, faculty, and its long and beneficial tradition - based on the acts of a few, and before all of the details of the story have been determined yet.

If you're a Penn Stater, it's almost become a siege mentality if you visit some of the news and sports sites, especially the comments sections. There are a lot of hateful people out there.

Really! It's such a shame, that probably most of those "haters" probably never even set foot on a Penn State campus ANY WHERE, let alone took any classes, or spent years of their lives working to earn their degrees. It goes a lot farther than just the people that are making the headlines. Some of us who just wanted to get an education are hurting, too!

I have a Penn State degree in business management/marketing. One of the first things I learned is that most universities are just businesses, nothing more. If they happen to do a little good, so be it. However, most simply don't care.

Yeah! People like to get on these websites and other places where they can give their opinions on whatever happens to be going on. But a lot of them have never been any where or did any thing with their lives except run their mouths in between their sips of beer while clicking their remotes or running others down. This doesn't apply to every body, it just seems there are those that feel better about themselves by bashing others. There will be people who will forever lump the whole Penn State fiasco with any one ever affliliated with the school, whether it be coaches, professors, athletes or students. It's just too bad how small-minded some people can be. Comprende???

I've been watching that story on ESPN. Apparently no corroborating witnesses. Just word against word, which is hard to prove.

People are taking the "Penn State" thing WAY too personal. It coulda been ANY college. Similar stuff is prob going on right now. Alot of people are letting their "Penn State Pride" get in the way of what is right. Its pretty sad, more so than the "haters" because atleast the group of haters are thinking about what is REALLY important.

Its getting pretty old hearing people defend everything thats gone on just because theyve gone to that school. Who gives a shit where you went, its not about YOU. Its about a perverted child molester and his cronies who kept everything on the hush hush.
If it happened at some school you guys hated, it would be bad though, right?
Quit being so fucking egotistical and think about whats IMPORTANT besides yourself or the reputation of some stupid school.

It should be about the victims. Thats all thats important. Everything else just shit on a stick. Again, if you disagree, get your head examined.

All those involved had a choice to do the RIGHT thing. Clearly they all failed. Welcome to the nuclear winter.

If you think your job or life is more important that the safety of an innocent child, you deserve all the pain & suffering that life forces down upon you.

I wish that asteroid woulda destroyed this sick, perverted, selfish, egotistical, idiotic world. Me existing isnt worth the horrors that millions go through. I can only hope that 2012 is it. Fuck this world.

Edit: None of this is a depressed post. Its purely common sense as I see it, laced with anger because of the condition of this planet and its people.

Yes, it is all about the victims and the punishment of the guilty. Nobody questions that.

And if the innocent get crucified right along with the guilty, well, that's OK too, right?

RIGHT?

Bullshit.

Im not gonna get into it deep with you. I can just talk to a brick right outside of my house, and get the same satisfaction.

Just go back to your great life, nice things, & happiness. Dont concern yourself with the troubles of the lowly common man.

You driving your nice cars and spending your money is not worth nations of starving people, the sick and dying, the poor, the exploited, the murdered, the raped, the neglected, the addicted, the abused...I could go on and on. Add up all the people since the beginning of time.

You only think of yourself and prob the people you like. The world is so much bigger than central PA. Get that?

I knew the Media would dig up "sex scandals" at other universities once this Penn State story broke. It embodies everything I hate about them. They realized that this was a cash cow and so now they will dig into the cracks to find something...anything in the same vein as this ultra popular breaking news.

Who cares about fact checking!!! That doesn't sell!

The media does what it does best. Along with desensitizing the public with these "Late Breaking" stories. Look at it this way, the more we hear about something, even as horrible as the PSU Scandal...the less we care about it. Like how the media is pumping the masses full of movies about outbreaks and zombies....When something like that really happens we will just shrug our shoulders and put faith in what??? God? Government? I say girt up your loins and hold on....this nation is up for one hell of a ride in the next few years....IMO

I agree. For the last decade or so, it's been one missing blonde-haired kid after another. Why just blonde girls, don't brunettes go missing? How about boys, or black kids, or something else? It seems like we're being led to the missing-blonde stories, like those kids attract a larger audience, even though hundreds, maybe thousands of kids go missing every year. We only see what they think will make a good story, not th.e reality.
And "late-breaking" no longer means much to me. The only "breaking" news item that really affected me this year was the earthquake, and I had no damage, I just felt it. And the media tried to turn it into Armageddon.
What's done is done at PSU. Until Sandusky is tried, there's little left to interest me. I felt that JoePa and Spanier should go, and they're gone, end-of-story. I felt that if there was a cover-up, it should be dealt with, and that is happening. The media needs to move on, unless something major happens.

One thing you dipshits are missing.... Joe Paterno reported the allegations to the Shultz guy. The fucking HEAD of the university POLICE. Not to Barney, but to fucking ANDY! Now if Andy says, "We'll take care of it, and look into the ALLEGATIONS against your FORMER employee" what more should the football coach do? Turn into Columbo and stake out Sandusky's house? You act like you think ass rape was a daily occurrence at the football facilities. BTW, NOBODY has been convicted of anything yet. You know, that whole pesky, innocent until proven guilty thing.

What prevented everyone or anyone from making an anonymous call to uh...REAL POLICE...once they saw no one was doing shit??
Not just Paterno, but any of the people that knew about it.

If that makes me a dipshit, then thats great. People who can actually use their heads and have morals are dipshits. Thats quite a revelation.
