Good way to ruin your breakfast!
There were earlier reports of this shit with Sandusky, he was even investigated by either the campus police or State College police. So when Mike told JoePa, it was not a single instance in a vacuum.
JoePa did not check with Sandusky, his close friend.
JoePa did not follow up to see to the safety of that 10 year old boy.
JoePa did not tell Sandusky to stop this shit on PSU facilities.
JoePa did not talk to McCreary's dad, who also knew, Mike told him.
JoePa showed no moral backbone.

According to the facts at hand:undercoverjoe wrote:There were earlier reports of this shit with Sandusky, he was even investigated by either the campus police or State College police. So when Mike told JoePa, it was not a single instance in a vacuum.

1) Paterno had no knowledge of any events before the 2002 incident.
2) It could be considered obstruction of justice for Paterno to "tip off" Sandusky.
3) Nobody knew the identity of the boy in question except the monster. See #2.
4) Apparently, nobody needed to tell the monster to stop this shit on PSU facilities, because there were no incidents on campus after the 2002 incident. It must have stopped taking its prey there.
5) McQueary's dad is not a material witness* and anything he'd say would be nothing more than hearsay. I don't see how talking to him would do any good. Only somebody with a week's worth of hindsight could even come up with this.
6) Torch and pitchfork opinion.
6) Torch and pitchfork conclusion. Also could be considered libel. Don't worry Joe, they won't be coming for you.
Any more questions?
*McQueary's father could be considered an "outcry" witness. This is a witness who reinforces a material witness's testimony by testifying to their emotional condition right after an incident.

You are just wishing this to be true. Sandusky was reported and investigated in 1995 and 1998. Do you really think that JoePa did not know about that?lonewolf wrote:

It involved PSU football,
it involved PSU facilities,
a former coach,
a former defensive coordinator,
a person talked about seriously of replacing JoePa someday,
and a good friend.
Hard to believe that JoePa did not know about it. Or is he part ostrich?
He was also told and agree to not showering with little boys. If you heard of some friend of yours who was told not to shower with little boys, would you be the slightest bit curious as to why? If you heard that someone was told not to shower with little boys at a place where you worked, would you be a bit curious about it?
Or would the quest for all the coaching victories and personal records make you blind to everything going on around you?

1) Actually, you are just wishing it was FALSE. While I am going by the findings of the Grand Jury and evidence, you are just going by torch and pitchfork innuendo. Paterno HAD to know? Why? Is he omniscient too?undercoverjoe wrote:You are just wishing this to be true. Sandusky was reported and investigated in 1995 and 1998. 2) There was no investigation in 1995. The only mention of any authorities was over a suicide attempt by a foster child in his care, but there was nothing presented that would even remotely indicate molestation. The boy in question wrote a letter stating that he wanted to go back to live with the Sandusky family.
3) Since the investigation in 1998 ended without charges, the police and DA's office would be remiss in their duty had anybody outside the investigation found out about it. Once again, the situation supports the findings.
4) There is nothing to indicate that Paterno was ever informed about any of this.
5) As far as involvement, I seriously doubt that the monster was going to have a beer with the coach and tell him that it was molesting boys. By the same token, Paterno's close relationship with the monster would more likely amplify feelings of denial than suspicion.
6) Curious? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Remember, this was the outcome of the 2002 incident and no charges were filed. Had I been in Paterno's shoes and trusted my superiors, I would probably have accepted the order along with their report that they were just "horsing around". Banning the monster from bringing children to the locker room would just seem like a prudent thing to do in such a case.
Sadly, his superiors were not trustworthy. Hindsight is remarkably 20/20.
Any more questions?

Because he was there for 61 years. Because he was head coach for 46 years.lonewolf wrote: Paterno HAD to know? Why?
Because he had so much power there that no one could tell him to retire even when the game obviously passed him by years ago.
Because PSU Football is a very small, close-knit community, and because he was head god of that worshiped institution.
There is going to be a very large penalty to pay for not having the balls to tell JoePa to retire. They are going to be hit with $100s of Millions in lawsuits. The football program is going to crash for years. No top All American recruits are going to want to go there for years and years. they are going to be looking for Div. II teams to play. The alumni football grants are going to dry up.
Maybe the good news is that they will start booking music acts at Beaver Stadium to get some income.

No straws, just facts and evidence.KeithReynolds wrote:Its kind of sickening watching someone grasp at straws to defend a pedo and his enabler buddies.
Everything else is just legally-ignorant torch and pitchfork innuendo.
If I see something that comes out to the contrary, I'll be the 1st to admit I was wrong.
And, in case you didn't notice, I am sure as hell not defending the monster. I don't even call it "he".

JoePa looked the other way, set the alltime wins record, let children get raped on PSU facilities and will get over $500,000 annual retirement salary.

Now I hear the police have no record of Mcquery's complaint. Hmmm.Hawk wrote:I've heard that on TV. If it is true that Mcquery stopped Sandusky then he's off the hook. If he told Paterno that he already went to the police that's cool. BUT why was Sandusky allowed access to football facilities after the rape ?

The Sandusky interview only made me even more convinced he's guilty. When asked, "Are you sexually attracted to young boys?" he repeated the question several times, like he was mulling it over, and took a LONG time to get to the "no" part. If someone asked YOU the same question, how long would it take you to answer, and would you be calm and matter-of-fact? At a bare minimum, an innocent man would give an emphatic "NO!" and ask what the eff is wrong with the interviewer for asking such stupidity.
Admitting that he showered with those kids is all the proof I need, as well. While the boys all showered together at my junior high, the gym teacher never did, and today there is no situation that calls for it, ever. That it happened repeatedly, is justification for revoking all bail, and putting him in a cage.

This is some crazy stuff breaking out. After a month or so more of "leaks", they should get that Grand Jury back together.Hawk wrote:Now I hear the police have no record of Mcquery's complaint. If he did talk to police, it would seem that it was "off the record."

"To your knowledge, did Joe Paterno have any information regarding objectionable activities on your part prior to that report in 2002?"
The "innocent" answer would be "there was nothing for him to know."
Instead, it said: "My... I can't totally answer that question. My answer would be, 'no.'"
