For all the scifi things for years that have been suggesting that would happen, it's absolutely no surprise! In fact, I'm sure it should've happened before now, but you know... Federal regulations and all

From what I understand and assume you would need a pilot's training and license since you would be dealing with airports, air traffic controllers, and the FAA. It would be different than flying an ultralight or hot air balloon. I wonder how the insurance would be and would you need car and airplane insurance?

I know the government is probably looking at it, licking their chops.

Funny, I can remember being over at a friends house back in the early sixties looking at a car that her parents had just bought. We were saying how cool it was and her dad said "by the time you girls are old enough to drive, they'll have cars that fly"!!! Well, he missed it by a few years---QUITE a few years, but I guess his prediction was spot on!!!
Hope this doesn't raise the airline fares!!! :(

They are probably trying to find some way to charge an air space tax on it.

These have been around for years. Flying automobiles have been researched and developed since the 1930s for both military and consumer... and they have all failed.

There is no advantage because you still need to land at an airport.
From an economic standpoint, if someone can afford $279,000, they can surely afford to rent a car and store their plane in a hangar.
Are you going to really land at an airport then drive your $279,000 flying car and leave it parked at Wal Mart?

Its like one of us buying a guitar-drumset all in one for $12,000; a cute gimmic but realistically it would not function exceptionally well.

Actually, you can buy an airplane cheaper than that. And, if you can afford to buy the airplane or flying car, you probably don't really have to worrying about shopping and parking at Walmart!!! :)
