"These new FBI statistics indicate that one marijuana smoker is arrested every 38 seconds in America. "
Is this how we should waste our time, money and people?????

This weed could fix all the deficit problems you guys always bitch about. So yeah this is more important than all your ramblings put together.lonewolf wrote:Isn't it funny how nobody bitches about a political thread if it happens to be a weed (er, sorry, herb) thread?
Legal weed would change the world homie!
Did Shakespeare partake of the herb ?
Doobie or not doobie? That is the question.

A South African anthropologist has asked permission to open the graves of William Shakespeare and his family to determine, among other things, what killed the Bard and whether his poems and plays may have been composed under the influence of marijuana.

Then arrest them for the crimes of theft and breaking and entering. No need to add the drug charge. Just adds years to the sentence, and if you have not noticed there are over 2 million Americans in jail, 50% are there for non violent crimes.faster pussycat wrote:In case you haven't noticed, that day is RIGHT NOW.where you living?? uh what do you think is fueling the recent crime wave? BTW, if drugs were not illegal, the prices would go way down, and the crime committed to purchase drugs would also go down. Without the illegal trade, many gangs would lose their incomes, and many would wither away.

I seriously doubt that this is going to fix much of anything. This federal law may be symbolic, but it won't legalize weed.Hurricane wrote:This weed could fix all the deficit problems you guys always bitch about. One NORML report says pot cost taxpayers $40 billion per year. That's not enough to even put a pinhole in the debt.

I'm not saying its a bad thing...I'm just saying its not as great as its made out to be.

What? Did you read my post? Pretty sure i said it was junkies. Ive seen plenty of drunks start fights. Ive never seen someone high from pot start a fight. Ive heard of many a college student die from alcohol poisoning. Ive never heard of someone oding from mary jane. People drink and drive but stoners dont toke and drive cuz they cant find their shoes. You can blow an entire paycheck in one night at the bar but if i buy 30 bucks worth of weed im good for a week at least. I still dont see how beer and liquer are better than puffin the cheeba. You show me a violent pot head and ill show you someone who misplaced their butterscotch krimpets. And alcoholics may not rob people, but they definatly dont have a problem panhandeling. Im not saying booz should be illegal. Im just saying i dont see why marijuana is.

The cops could arrest the people that break into my house if my dog leaves them anything to arrest.

I know you dont freqeunt Norml's site but this is from 2007,
Read it again, 40 billion is what is spent on criminal justice costs and in lost tax revenues. Not on pot. $113 billion was spent then, im sure its more now.
Pot’s criminalization also artificially raises the plant’s retail price and diverts billions of dollars into the black market economy, the study finds. According to the report, Americans spend some $113 billion dollars annually to consume an estimated 31.1 million pounds of pot. By criminalizing this market, the study estimates that the government loses more than $30 billion per year in tax revenue.
"The market in marijuana in the United States is illicit, illegal, and as such it diverts capital away from the channels of the licit or legal economy, especially the channels from which local, state, and the federal government collect tax revenue," the study concludes. "If [the billions of dollars America’s currently spend on marijuana] were spent on legal commodities … those economic transactions would produce billions in tax revenues for local, state, and the federal government."

The topic is weed....how many people are being robbed for weed?! And again I'm waitin to see your side of the argument over which is worse beer or marijuana. There IS no debate...pot wins hands down.faster pussycat wrote:In case you haven't noticed, that day is RIGHT NOW.where you living?? uh what do you think is fueling the recent crime wave? Two reasons Jeff....lonewolf wrote:Isn't it funny how nobody bitches about a political thread if it happens to be a weed (er, sorry, herb) thread?
#1 A large percentage of people are pro-pot, therefore it's hard to argue without an opponent.
#2 It shouldn't even be a political argument to begin with. Again what I do to myself in the comfort of my own home is none of the government's business when my consequences of it effect no one but myself. Which appears to be the common denominator in most of my arguments. If I affect no one with my choices but myself, who has the right to tell me not to do it?

Actually I worded it a little funny. Alcohol is by far worse than marijuana. I meant to imply the pot side wins the fight hands down.shredder138 wrote:Are you being sarcastic or are you just plain retarded? NOBODY robs a bank or stabs another over a 6 pack of brewskies.

thats' naive of you to think that the very real fact of drug addiction doesn't fuel crime..all kinds of crime burglery, robery, stealing inc CAPITAL crime.undercoverjoe wrote:Are you going to form the thought police? Lets arrest anyone who even thinks of doing something wrong. Maybe we should put them away because they MIGHT think of some wrong actions.
these addicts don't work for most part so how do you think they will support their habit?
uh stealing, robbing, fencing and whatever.
when was the last time a drunk robbed a bank for $ for anothe 40?? he's too drunk
