So they buried him at sea. Great. Now we'll have to deal with the "deathers" demanding proof that he was actually killed, and Donald Trump can now demand the long form of Bin Laden's death certificate.

Why burial at sea? Seems odd to me. Was it televised? It's like a viewing, you show people the dead body so it sinks in. In some way it seems odd that they would do this in a secretive way. People have been waiting for him to be brought to justice for ten years, so they announce it late on a Sunday night and then bury the body at sea a few hours later.
I appreciate your sarcasm, Paul. But doesn't that seem fishy to anyone else? At the very least, it's anticlimactic.
I think they should have at least shoved a stick up his butt, Vlad style, and attached him to the bow of an aircraft carrier for a day or two.

People will always be assholes about everything. People will always be decisive, they will always want to cast doubt. It is the nature of the human condition.
Most of us are so seeded with hate and anger that we can't take a moment to be happy for fear that the "others" will take advantage of us. Too bad...

They buried him at sea for two reasons.
One: It is Muslim belief that you should be buried with in 24 hours of your death.
and
Two: They didn't want a shrine to be erected at his grave site.
There were Pictures taken and Video taken. Both of which I hope they release soon, it will then shut those "Deathers" up.

Music Rocks!
I have never felt so good about someone's death, which is a strange feeling for me. Anyway, I'm surprised by the lack of kudos to Obama by some. It seems the operation was well planned and well executed, even over coming the failed chopper with a back up. Carter failed to rescue the Iran hostages. Bush botched his best attempt at Bin Laden. But Obama nailed it!

I'm sure that Obama will try to take all of the credit in UBL's demise to aid in him getting re-elected, and I'm not sure if they really
chucked Bin Laden's dead ass in the sea, but let's give the REAL credit to those who deserve it----those who have sacrificed their lives so we can have the freedom to express our feelings here and in our music---GOD BLESS OUR TROUPS and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
So, Usama, how are those 40 virgins treatin' ya???

All this is, is the first step in a new terrorist attack or war. There have been reports since 2001 that he died. So why do this now? Doesnt anyone read between the lines? Its really easy to say something happened. Doesnt make it true.
This is a very controlled situation. Our govt's intelligence agency is always 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Just be ready for the instigated "fear campaign".
Its a known fact that bin ladin had/has a working relationship with the CIA. Why doesnt anyone pay attention to that? Isnt that fishy??? Doesnt anyone find it weird that all the "bad guys" used to be our allies??? Saddam was our ally in the 80's. So was Bin Ladin. Once our govt had no need for the alliance anymore, the men became "terrorists".
If anyone thinks that Prez Obama had ANYTHING to do with the operation, they are nuts. The pres is JUST a figurehead. He's just the guy used as a scapegoat when things go bad, and as a hero when things are presented as good.
Presidents have NO real power or authority. Why praise him for it?? He did nothing but sit in a comfy chair during a meeting listening to guys tell him whats going on.
He was allowed to be in on it because of the timing. This was a carefully planned event. It takes the focus off many other issues. Most people believe everything big brother says, so this will unite the country for a while. Another flag waving era until the next bad event is executed.
Let's say Bin Ladin REALLY was killed yesterday. Why yesterday? Oh yeah, TIMING. We've always known where he was. NOTHING happens in this world without our CIA knowing. Just wait and see what develops.

Yeah, I heard that Obama tried out for the SEALS and made it without anyone knowing. He then trained years with the SEAL Team 6, the anti-terrorist team. He slipped out of the White House, swam (in one of those cool SEAL swim suits) to Pakistan and fit in perfectly with the rest of SEAL Team 6. Obama should get all the praise. Anyone can become a SEAL, jeez, its easy.Larry wrote: Anyway, I'm surprised by the lack of kudos to Obama by some. "How ironic that so many think that Obama is kicking ass after MURDERING Quaddafi's son & Grandchildren he conveniently kills Bin Laden! People are sheep! Obama is doing whatever he can to divert us from seeing him as a Muslim to get re-elected! They called Bush a war monger when he killed Hussein! And now tout Obama as a hero?! How convenient that this all comes into play as His citizenship is seriously scrutinized! OMG! WAKE UP, FOOLS!!"

I'm not trying to minimize the skill of those who carried out the operation. They did an outstanding job and demonstrated bravery and abilities that few will ever match. But anytime you're placed in a leadership position, the ultimate responsibility falls on you - good or bad. That's what you sign up for. The people placed in charge of that operation were directly or indirectly placed there by the Commander in Chief, and the timing of when to act on that plan also received his input. He was then actively involved in monitoring its execution via a live video feed (according to White House press releases).undercoverjoe wrote:Yeah, I heard that Obama tried out for the SEALS and made it without anyone knowing. Maybe what bothers people is that he seems to be using this to increase his approval rating. He was masterful at releasing the full details of his birth just before just before this, making all of the birthers look silly and petty in light of what he had brewing.
I know there is hatred for Obama from certain segments and those segments will always minimize his role no matter what anyone says. I don't agree with many of his policies, but I think he deserves an atta boy for his role in this.

I've been reading reports and comments on a few Middle Eastern news sites, such as Aljazeera's English service and Arab News. The general sentiment seems to be relief for the most part; a prominent opinion is that Bin Laden tarnished the image of Islam worldwide by tying it to terrorism and violence, so many folks from the Islamic world are not sad to see him go. Others felt that Bin Laden was more of a figurehead than leader since he has been in hiding all this time, and that his death is more symbolic since he is the face of al-Qaeda and terrorism.
One interesting opinion I read is that with all the current political turmoil and recent toppling of regimes in Egypt and Tunisia, that the peoples of these nations determining their own destinies might ultimately be the best weapon in the "war against terrorism," as a lot of the root problems that bred anger against the West and subsequent formation of terrorist and extremist sects were the results of West-supported regimes like Mubarak's in Egypt. As one person commented, some of that anger originated with jail cell brutality or torture under Mubarak, and the fact that the people of Egypt have turned the tables and might get to jail Mubarak themselves could go a long way toward resolving some of the root issues that bred unrest, and subsequently, terrorism.
And the more the peoples of this region determine their own destinies, the less favorable the environments for breeding terrorism, especially if the U.S. and the West aren't seen as having a controlling interest in the new governments.

Much of what you say may be true, but I think we always knew Osama was a "terrorist". It was all well and good when he was terrorizing our enemies, but when he started attacking us, we had to get rid of him. I wish the Bush administration had done it a long time ago. Do you really think they didn't try, just so the timing of his death would fall during Obama's administration?KeithReynolds wrote:All this is, is the first step in a new terrorist attack or war. I must be nuts, because I do think the US President not only has authority, I think he's the most powerful man in the world. In fact, he can start a war using the world's most powerful military without congressional approval.

Not really. Since when do we ever publically release physical evidence of enemy combatants that we've killed? I'm an empiricist, so I understand the desire for evidence; but the extreme skepticism about stuff like this just seems a bit absurd. Clinton couldn't keep a blow job a secret, yet people are trying to say that 9/11 was enacted by our own government and now we'll have to listen to the Deathers for the next 10 years insisting that this was a big government conspiracy. I usually enjoy listening to Coast to Coast A.M. on my way home from gigs, but I don't take seriously the tinfoil crowd that makes up the show's guests.hicksjd9 wrote: I appreciate your sarcasm, Paul. And to me, the desire to publically release evidence of the body just seems a little macabre. He was reportedly killed in a fire fight. When someone dies in a movie, they usually are depicted with a hole and some red liquid coming out. In the real world, as most any experienced police officer will tell you, it's a little more messy than that. Do people really want his grizzled body posted all over CNN?
