HOMEGROWN ROCKER 11/7/10 (SYNESTHESIA)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 7 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guests this week, new Pittsburgh area metal ensemble Synesthesia (http://myspace.com/synesthesiaus). We met the members, including former members of One Night Stand, Triple X, Tony Mollick Project and more. We learned the story of this new project, and heard several songs recently recorded by the group. We also dug into the archive and our guests’ pasts to feature songs from One Night Stand and Triple X for “Local Music Flashbacks.” Along the way, we debuted new songs by Dove Of War and It Is Written, updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Absolution’s Theory of Existence CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” It was a hard-rocking week!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

HYBRID ICE – “Faith Without Works”
SYNESTHESIA – “Lake of Fire”
DOVE OF WAR – “Dying Soul”
SYNESTHESIA – “True Believer”
NAILDRIVER – “The Executioner”
IT IS WRITTEN – “Burn the Witch”

HOUR TWO:

MINDSPINE – “Monster”
SYNESTHESIA – “Synners and Saints”
ABSOLUTION – “Clarity”
SYNESTHESIA – “Sweet Rhapsody”
ONE NIGHT STAND – “Cool 6” (1990, Local Music Flashback)
TRIPLE X – “More Than You Asked For” (1991, Local Music Flashback)

Again, the Pittsburgh Steelers will pre-empt the “Homegrown Rocker” next Sunday, November 14, when they take on the New England Patriots in a Sunday night game. The “Homegrown Rocker” will return the following Sunday, November 21, when our guests will be Kiski area hard rockers After The Fall. We’ll learn After The Fall’s story and hear songs from their new CD; we’ll also update “Local Music News,” review another new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and dig another “Local Music Flashback” from the archives! After The Fall visits the “Homegrown Rocker” when the show returns on November 21!

Former BluesMoon singer Trace Baker has been accepted to audition for America’s Got Talent. Her audition for the popular television program takes place on November 15.

A benefit to help a former member of legendary northeastern PA rockers Harpo takes place next Sunday, November 14.
