Anybody know anything about this? I keep getting email's from them and was wondering if it is worth it? Any feedback would be great!

Actually i called Erika last year on this and you have to live an hour from the club that hosts the event. The crowd determines the winner. So i said we cant get in because we are 2 hours from Pittsburgh and she says yeah. So i said stop spamming me with emails about it then. :P

Thanx for the feedback! I didn't know about the 1 hour thing, also found out you have to have 3 or more members to enter. Oh well, it's not like we are hurting for shows, but it would be nice to go over seas to play. Maybe someday!

That's strange that they measure distance in hours. I live an hour from Pittsburgh, if I'm driving a car that'll average 150 miles per hour.
... and then the wheel fell off.

we were approached about the emergenza thing last month and while i had the time I met with the people. It is true you have to pay to get in, thus we didn't play it, but you don't need 3 or more people... just a "full band sound". So a band like the White Stripes would still be able to play. Also the one hour distance thing is not true... It comes in handy for bringing a crowd with you but not a requirement. THey just want money, so they won't actually discriminate based on where you live. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a band desperate to get heard and get a place to play or if you are desperate to network with other desperate bands... venues are cool, but they don't invite you back because they heard you that night... enjoy though if you decide to play it.

Yes the location thing is true, if you go to sign up and put in your zip code, at least for 16602 it comes up no venue in this area. A year ago on the the phone with Erika she told me the same thing, not close enough to play in Pittsburgh. Money was not even mentioned in the call to play, we were shutdown because of location. No biggie, but they still spam me with emails about it.

This is what the payment covers - you get Ernie ball bass and guitar strings, one pair of druim sticks, and one snare drum skin. So, the $70 entry fee isn't all for nothing, but they shouldn't make you pay for supplies if you don't need them...lower the entry fee or have none at all. This contest has thousands upon thousands of entries. I believe you get a 30 minutes set and it is fan judged...not a panel of judges. It's just another popularity battle of the bands.
