haha - I still laugh when I hear the beginning of that. All these years and I still have no idea what he is saying ...

It is loosely translated from Dutch NOT GERMAN - Running through the woods freely...something to that nature.

Sorry I'm late to the party on this one and also apologies if this was posted already, but the intro to Rock of Ages is simply Mutt Lange making noises instead of the typical "One, two, three, four" to start the song. At that time, Mutt kept Leppard in the studio for hours on end re-recording tracks, tweaking parts here and there, or working on the changes both musically and lyrically so much that sessions usually became mind numbing and frustrating for the band. The ROA intro was simply Mutt's way of trying to ease the tension by doing something silly. The Dutch-esque translation of the intro is somewhat of an urban legend among Leppard fans, but was disproven by Joe Elliott himself in various interviews. Mutt also does the intro at the beginning of the video shrouded in a brown monk outfit.
