Is Northern Cambria the LA/Nashville/Austin of Central Pa?

It seems to be. I've been looking through a lot of the band pages and didn't realize how many musicians reside in or near Northern Cambria.

I used to play with alot of guys from that area, some of them are gone, one is in florida working doing studio work, one is in greensburg playing in about 3 bands and keeping very busy. And most of the other guys are still around playing too. And most of em weren't hacks either , very talented people.

A few of these guys and I discussed this about 10 years ago and came to the conclusion that there isn't anything else to do in that area !!!!

I think it is interesting that you (a non-northern cambria area person)should notice the phenomenon.

Back in 1987?? I put together a jam session party with me and just some of my friends. I called it "The Rock and Roll Capitol of the World" show.

The Northern Cambria area has been musically blessed with talent for as long as I can remember. Let's get the list started with the two bands that started it all back in the late '60's, The Revolutions (headed up by Tom "Shotgun" Sibert) and South Dakota Farm (Any Rhody). Come on everybody help me out,

I remember also in '90, '91, '92 there would be 3 places right in town and 3 or 4 more not far away all having bands and each place would get a good crowd. I don't think there is anywhere in Northern Cambria even having bands anymore is there?

There are very few places in NC that have bands anymore. The pool hall, for one, but most of the bands are punk bands or death metal, which is cool if thats what you are into. Im in an acoustic duo called Falling Higher. When we look for places in this town to play, it is pretty disturbing to see how many places dont even have their entertainment licences. Of course, in Northern Cambria, you have to take into consideration how close everyone is to one another, and then factor in the "Fun Police" known as PLCB. Anyone can call up the PLCB and complain about noise, and then thats it for the band for the night...pretty sad. There are, however, a lot of bands in and around the northern cambria area, a lot that spawn from the NC area and outsource, and are never even seen in northern cambria. Of course, it is nearly impossible to find a drummer around here for some reason, lol. It seems like, anymore, you have to travel to Ebensburg, Johnstown, Portage, Cresson, Altoona, or Indiana to get a gig. What NC needs is an actual venue for bands, maybe then some more people would realize the talent that is actually in this area.
