I'm just curious as to what everybodys thinks of the whole fining of E. jr, over swearing on TV?
i find it quite amusing!!! they fine him for swearing but they let him drive a car with Budweiser pasted on it and shake champaign all over it when he wins and take a drink before a victory lap?!?!?! i don't get it. whats so wrong with saying shit compared to the other stuff on tv?
let it go!! everybody tries to make an extra buck even the multimillionaire co.
they'll play shows like the bachelor, which lets the bachelor womanize as many women as he can, and jerry springer, etc., but thats alright that they blur out the naked bodies and crap like that an all these other tv shows but say shit 1 time man your in deep shit(sorry, please don't fine me ron!!!!), 25,000 dollars of shit!!! and anyways aren't there delays in tv? to me its their own fault
just thought i'd ask what yall thought?
dale E. jr.

I was hearing this conversation last night, but with a different driver. We said that, they should have a ten second delay on the reports so they can edit that sort of thing. I don't find it offensive - but I suppose because of the kids. Who knows.

Sorry oobie, but the fine is one shot of Jaeger per offense. Let me know when you're ready to pay up.
In all seriousness, this is what our country has come to. Our government is out of control when it comes to control, and things will probably get much worse. The FCC has become a moral policeman with a very low tolerance, and if enough far right wingers get into office, there is talk that congress may try and extend the FCC's power to CABLE. About 75% (and counting) of American households have cable, and satellite radio is becoming ever increasingly popular, so the FCC's playground, (terrestrial broadcast), will slowly die out if the government doesn't do something.
If congress does try to save the FCC's moral grip by extending it's powers... look out.
Don't get me wrong, NASCAR levied the fines and points deduction from Dale Jr., not the FCC, but I think that it's the recent "crackdown" by the FCC that has all of the major broadcasters, etc. worried. If NASCAR didn't do something, I'll bet that the repercussions from the FCC would have been harsh.

The recent "crackdown" by the FCC was more of an "outbreak" of high-profile Television Code violations, Siriusly (lol). Judging from some of the language that I've heard on network broadcasts lately, I doubt if "shit" would stir up much shit with the FCC. The NASCAR bunch can do with their members what they will. Do ya think that they have a specific reg dealing with vulgar language in the Nascar by-laws? Its hard to tell.Don't get me wrong, NASCAR levied the fines and points deduction from Dale Jr., not the FCC, but I think that it's the recent "crackdown" by the FCC that has all of the major broadcasters, etc. worried. The fine for bringing up NASCAR on Rockpage should be a round of Jaeger for EVERYBODY!
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Blame it on Janet and Justin.
As you might have heard, shock jock Howard Stern is making the jump to satellite radio in 2006, since it has yet to come under the regulatory tentacles of the FCC.
As for the Dale Jr. infraction, I agree that the ten-second delay during sports interviews might not be a bad idea. I think the points deduction is the wrong penalty, the points should be assessed by what happens on the race track, not what happens afterward on camera. Hit Dale Jr. and his race team in the wallet with a fine, I think that would be more effective.
For the record, I'm not partial to any NASCAR driver, I just think the point deduction is a bit harsh for one accidentally uttered cuss word.

I personally think it's crap...but, he did do it....I also think something is up with NASCAR...the race I went to this year, every time one of the 10 started doing badly, a caution came out for unexplained reasons (oil on the track, etc.) Also Jr. had a birthday party Sunday night and the France brothers and Mike Helton were invited and there....not likely for someone who cares if they got fined.....

The fifth and sixth graders swear worse than that at our school. The radio is worse that that in the a.m. for the kiddies going to school. Makes me laugh to hear the words "ass" in a song.. be out for a month, then get sensored.
I think they should have let the man go. Not like he started a fk rant or something on air. It was an innocent slip. Who doesn't do that?
Gooooo Ricky Craven! My NASCAR Hero!!!!!!!!!!
