Practice spaces

Post by metalchurch »

Just wondering where you guys normally practice when you are at home.
Right now I have to have my guitars and rig setup in my bedroom, but I'd love to have my own room, or lair if you will.

Does anyone have their own room for practicing?
Do you sound proof it in anyway?

I have a pretty small place... I usually pick in the living room. I keep an acoustic on a stand there, and a classical on the love seat in the TV room (to keep the dogs off it, mostly, I hardly ever play it). I kinda have to have a guitar sitting out where I can see it, it motivates me to pick it up and play.
My wife's also pretty good about me having musical junk lying around the house, a lot of wives wouldn't like the clutter, she tolerates it nicely, she was a neat-freak when I met her, I'll have her slovenly like me!--->JMS

My ideal room would be painted all black and covered in posters and clippings that I have been accumulating all of these years. That's what my bedroom used to look like when I was younger.

I saw these really awesome panels that were probably fiberglass or plastic and they resembled stone, like castle walls.
I thought that would be realy cool to have a room look like that, but I have to admit there's a fine line between getting a little "Dio/Holy Diver" style and having a dominatrix/submissive stlye approach to the syling.

I think a 'castle room' would be sweet though.

It's funny, I hardly ever plug in when I'm at home. I usually sit in front of the TV with my guitar. I have a 1x12 Epiphone combo in the bedroom in case I actually want some volume.

I always have a guitar in my hands whenever I'm watching tv.

i said in another post that my drums are in my dining room, well, i keep all my stuff there. bass rig, guitar amps, small vocal pa, and my instruments. if i'm watching tv, i'm probably playing bass at the same time, i play drums everyday, and well... i've kinda slacked off on guitar, nothing against you thin stringed strumming fools, but i've gotten more into the low end of things lately. must be because that's what i play in the paying gig, lol.
