The RIAA should get bent. Of course then again, they kinda are, since they're not winning their lawsuits. Score one for the little guy
I will say this... The big people hurt by downloading music across the board are the people that are blowing the record execs for the chance to be in the Billboard Top 40. They're the ones that're really effected by the download world. All that means to me is that some people won't be able to buy a brand new Jaguar this year. Boo fucking hoo!
Myspace is becoming an example of how free music can not only not hinder bands, but can REALLY help most bands. I'm all for the "Try it before you buy it" peace that comes with free music. They're currently trying to catalog just about every song there is, was, and ever will be. That's HUGE accomplishment
Truth be told, had it not been for Myspace, some sampling, and word of online mouth, I'd have never even gotten into the local scene, and for that matter, I wouldn't know of several of the bands I listen to nowadays. Not that it makes it any more right, but the world of free music is a powerful, and VERY useful force if done the right way. Hell, look at Ninetail! They're a regional band that's gone national recently thanks to Myspace, and the online music world
Oh... And Limewire is a piece of "Use at your comp's DEATH risk" junk!

...Which's why I have traces of neither on any computer, and have tried telling people they're better off without em. Some people should listen to me from time to time. Oh well. I've seen what things will happen, and if someone's better knowledge and experience won't tell you something,... Just learn the hard way for yourselff.sciarrillo wrote:That and Bearshare are two of the most infected virus/spyware/malware/full of trojans programs there is. Frostwire - completely free version of Limewire, no free vs. paid versions:
http://www.frostwire.com
But keep an eye on the file sizes of the search results, you still have to watch that you don't mistakenly download a <1MB song file, which are viruses in most cases.
My preferred download route is a Giganews (usenet) account + www.binsearch.info + NZB-o-Matic

I use utorrent (micro torrent, the u is actually the greek letter mu) just type utorrent.com in the address bar and download it. then go to any search engine and type in "any band + torrent" and go, it's great if you want to get complete discographies of a band, that's what i use it for mostly, but it's not too good if you just want 1 or 2 songs, but if you want albums, torrents are the way to go.SkeezerBoy wrote:So... Where is a good site that I can download music? I have a job and DON'T BUY C.D.'s. I have kids and diapers are more of a need. But I NEED music, so I download the shit. I was using LimeWire, but some of you have me spooked on using it. Anyway, metalchurch will you hip me up a little bit? Maybe I'll try this soulseek thing........Later!!!
If I ever see an amputee getting hanged... I'm just gonna start yelling out letters...

How innocent sounding..... It's not apparent at ALL that you're trying to open the door to force your opinion down our throats... I agree with the others .. If you had nothing to contribute to the question at hand why not just move on to another thread?.. hehe... You TURD !!! LOLbfoust wrote:How did you infer that it bothers me that you download mp3s? I personally don't care what you do, I'm just saying I buy CDs.. I used to download mp3s.. but I don't anymore.
Mainly, because I only buy cheap CDs (~9.99 per CD on Amazon)... Thus I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off.
Does that work for you?

The thing with usenet and nzb is that you have to pay for them. I don't believe in paying for anything lol ...
Music Rocks!
