Favorite Local Band Original!

Post by MoonManTom »

Not sure if this has ever been asked, but what is your favorite Original Song by a local band! Can't be your own!
Although I dont get out to see bands anymore, I remember a few that I really liked back in the day!

1. Not Afraid of Dyin - Bashful

2. The Bone - Defiance!

3. In the City - Thin Ice

When I was in Blaz-on we opened for all those guys, and I loved to hear them play those songs in particular!

Two songs really jump out for me:

"Travelers Not Forgotten" by Felix and the Hurricanes

and

"Eventually" by Flame Sky

Scott B. and Nail Driver are going to be recording this weekend, and I do like several of their songs. Can't wait for the CD.

When Songsmith, T Kelly, Steve Brulia and Jimi Hatt had their band, (SideStep?) they had 2 originals that really rocked, well written and played songs. I can't remember the names of their 2 originals though.

Whoa! We had a song called "Sidesteppin'," and one called, "Bad, Bad Day." It took me awhile to remember the last one, we only played it out maybe twice, but it's cool somebody liked it.

Man, there are so many good local songs... I love "The Girl Is Hot," from Rusty Gun Revival... "Not Afraid of Dying," by Bashful... and practically everything Doug Forshey ever wrote from the time he was 14 years old, though he no longer lives locally. I have a million more, too.--->JMS

I like the new stuff that Tom Brown is working on, but he's being all secret squirrel about it.

That there is a man that has lots of talent, I should know, cause I taught him.

My favorite Bashful song was "Into The Battle." "White Line Fever" was always a crowd pleaser too. "Anyone got a razor blade?" 8) Gotta agree with Dirt on WDE's "Jaeger Shots" but I also love the song "Bang Your Head To This" when I can talk them into playing it.

Wow...so cool to make the list! Thanks(x2), Paul!

There's a lot of talent in the region, so I won't say these are all my favorites, but a few killer ones come to mind (in no particular order):

1. Anything by Felix and the 'canes.
2. Marauders: New Tattoo
3. Elysion Fields: I Hate it All
4. Dead Reckoning: Tres Nix
5. Balistic: Power
6. Flame Sky: Woodcutter (I think I got that name right)
7. Spinebelt: Change, Adapt, Evolve
8. Persephone's Dream: Electronic, Exotic
9. The Embalmed: Barb Wire Morgue
10. Wine of Nails: Rainy Day (Table for One)
11. Private Property: Hollywood

Props to everyone out there who is writing material!

VERY well put. Resurruption was a great record, and to play any song out of context would kind of cheat it. Kinda like Operation: Mindcrime... the songs seem better when viewed as part of the whole picture. Or when a woman only shows you one bewbie: cool, but two bewbies are more than twice as good. ------>JMS
