I NEVER

Maybe try learning some Jethro Tull songs and that might give you an idea.
Sometimes when you play something as opposed to listening, it hits you in a different way.

Some good Jethro songs:

Sweet Dreams (#1 best song ever by Tull)
Teacher
Cross Eyed Mary
Locomotive Breath (of course)
Thick as a Brick

There's just so many good songs to pick, I'm a closet Tull fan, I have all of his stuff. That was some Progressional stuff back in the day.
Flute or no Flute, it don't matter.

And they beat Metallica for the best Metal artist of 1987(?)and they got a Grammy, how cool is that?

Beating Metallica would be the coolest thing ever. Winning an award over them would also be cool.

True... now. But Tull beat them out over ...And Justice for All, when they were still a great metal band. Total crap, and when the Grammy's pretty much lost all relevance for me.

And of course, the nadir of Metallica, post-AJFO, marvelously captured.....

Remember that Jethro Tull also had strong Scottish/Celtic influence. I play bass and noticed that many of the Tull bass lines draw heavily on the rhythm guitar and what Ian Anderson was doing on the acoustic guitar.
