Whitedevil, I love Ripper's voice and you know I listened to alot of their stuff with Matt Barlow, and it's good, but now they are at another level.
Ever hear Wintersbane?
It's one of the earliest of Ripper's bands.
check it out, it's great 80's metal
Wintersbane - Heart of a Killer

Mr.Crowley
Flight of Icarus by Maiden
there's some more but I'd have to look. (laziness set in)

Just got the new Iced Earth yesterday. Badass disc. I love all the vocal arrangements in it. Gives it that bombastic feel, which I love. I think my favorite track is A Charge To Keep so far. As far as Matt or Ripper, I don't think it matters much who you choose. IE is still a badass band no matter which is singing for them. I've been a fan since Dark Saga, so I've heard both singers. I think they are both great for the material they were doing on each album. Aside from the music, IE has to have some of the coolest album covers around right now. Framing Armageddon is definately my favorite since Something Wicked This Way Comes. Anyone that doesn't have this disc yet needs to go get it.

For sure man. If you don't have this or any Iced Earth for that matter, you better run out and get it, cause you're missin gout on some great metal.
I like their older stuff as well Victor, Iced Earth was more of a musically driven band anyway. and I have alot of respect for Jon Schaffer. He's endured some tough times and always kept going.
Being in a metal band is hard. He takes care of everything in the band also. No agent, nothing. It's all him.

Schaffer is the man, I agree. My only hope is that he allows Ripper the chance to write for the band more. Schaffer wrote 99.9% of Framing Armageddon himself and if he didn't write it alone, then he had only one other co-writer credited. My other hope is that they do a straight up album soon after the Something Wicked storyline is done, since they will have 3 straight concept style albums out in a row once Something Wicked Part II is released.

I agree, these last few concepts have been a bit much. I have to agree with you on that one.
The Ripper has a band called Beyond Fear also, if you hadn't heard them it's worth it. That was right after Priest, and during his Iced Earth stuff.
I'd like to see Ripper kind of go out on his own more. He has so much potential, but it seems that he's always in someone's shadow.
They do have some Awesome album covers!
Eat shit Manowar!!!
