rftt volunteers
I would in a heartbeat, but as usual I have to work every weekend. Hope for it to change soon, then I will be able to help out and meet some of you guys in person, perhaps get a few contacts and friends along the way.
I have to get up at 2:30 am everyday, so I'm an early bird you could say.
Good luck, hope you find enough help.

this really is gonna be cool, i'm looking foreward to metting alot of rockpagers and hangin out, listening to some good music and just taking it all in
i think back to that cold ass winter day when me and hawk and toonarockguy first had a little meeting about a rftt in ebensburg and now we(rockpagers) are gonna finish her up with this outdoor gig. as a guy on the outside lookin in, you guys are very, very lucky to have the scene you have. be aware of how cool it is, don't take it for granted. i gladly drive an hour or two to be a part of it. thats for sure!
thanks for the help everyone.
anybody else who wants to come down and help out with anything we could use ya.

Hey all, Kevin here from RFTT.
I am personally putting out a challenge to the entire Rockpage community for our wrap-up show on Sept. 9th. We are in dire need of volunteers to help us out, and we need you.
For months now, bands have graciously volunteered their time and efforts for our shows. We appreciate every single group, organization, and person that has given time to our effort.
But now is the time to really step it up. We have a chance to really make a positive impact in our community, in front of the whole community.
I said it in a past post: There is a huge negative stereotype against musicians in the Altoona area. There are the "safe" bands who play downtown and at all the little fairs and whatnot. Nothing against those bands, but what about the rest of us?
We're percieved as a bunch of metal-playing, drug-addicted, long-haired alcoholics with no direction in life and no ambition.
Oh, how little do they know.
When something catastrophic happens, what is the first organization to step in and try to do something positive?
A pancake breakfast? Hell no.
A motorcycle run? Nope.
A fund-raiser? No way.
It's US. The Rockpage community. Musicians. We put together benefits, raise money, and try to be positive in our efforts. Yet for all of this, we are continuously looked down on and ignored. The "Helping Hands For Hastings" benefit a couple years back was a perfect example. Through the efforts of Rob Carolus, we were the first to get there and do something positive, not only for the family concerned, but for the entire boro of Hastings. Yet nobody in the mainstream media really cared or gave us credit.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
This is our chance to shine, and put stereotypes to rest forever. We are in posession of something that not a lot of other places have: an absolutely vibrant music scene. Let's get it to the forefront in a positive manner and show the close-minded, conservative Altoona base that we are much more than what they percieve that we are.
The Altoona Mirror will be covering the event. WTAJ will be covering the event. Jim Price will be there. This is a HUGE shot for us to break away from what people say we are and to get the ultimate revenge by doing something positive that most folks think we are incapable of!!
VOLUNTEERS: It's put up or shut up time. The initial response to RFTT was phenomenal, yet most of the people that expressed interest have yet to come help out at a show! Put your time where your mouth is. All we're asking for is one friggin' day out of your life. Isn't it worth it to not only support the US Military, but to support your local music scene as well??
BANDS: I cannot thank enough the bands that are participating!! BUT, for the bands that aren't...why not come down and help us out?? It's a networking opportunity!! Bring down flyers for your upcoming shows! Promote your band! You'll have a large audience who has never seen you before! What a great way to try to win some new fans!!
Bottom line: I know that this has been a long haul, and between Bill, Mike, Donna, and I, we've put in tons of work on this thing. We know and appreciate the bands that have played and folks that have helped us out. But we need you on September 9th. Not only to make a difference for the troops, but to make a difference for the Altoona regional music scene.
Sorry to go on for so long.
