I like a 2x12" vertical bassman cab for all occasions because the acoustinc coupling of the two speakers adds bass response. Mine is loaded with Celestion Century neos so it's light, articulate with tight bottom and can get just as loud as most 4x12 cabs with other Celestion models.

Whitey Cooper (a Tiger in the Norm Nardini band) signed my 1976 hs yearbook with "hey, ya wanna buy a zero time delay calibrator gizmatic whatsis pedal?" I have been using stomp boxes forever. There is nothing simple about them, at least not when compared to a multi-FX unit once you have l...

I have used most of the Boss stuff. The ME pedals are pretty much FX only and similar to their GT counterparts without the modeling preamps. They should be used with a guitar amp. The GTs have a built in modeling preamp. I have used these with a lot of success using only a channel of a power amp and...

This thing is unbelieveable. channel 4 has more gain on 3 than most amps full blown. The clean sound is awesome, but because it ohly has 36 watts, it tends to break up a little at higher volumes. The built in effects are top notch and you can use midi to switch everything.

Stay away from the AKG digital DMS70 stuff. It is drop out prone and like most digital wireless, eats batteries like gummy bears. I don't use wireless much anymore, so I got a single channel AKG WMS40 mini analog system to have around for my guitar. This system is actually very good with full freque...

I have found that most buzzsaw problems stem from way too much processed gain. Try to use more amp gain and less battery powered fuzzowhatsis device gain. Boosting bass and mids can help too.

Except for grunge & metal, most guitarists really don't use nearly as much gain as they seem to.

Yes, Lexicon Alpha would be a good choice for what you want. It has usable bundled software too.

A cheaper, simpler alternative that has good reviews would be a Behringer:

There are basically 2 types of earbuds...1 kind seals the ear canal and you can only hear the monitor mix. With this type, you have to have a very good mix going on because that is all that you will hear. These give me (and many others with whom I spoke) what I call audio claustrophobia. The other k...

The only "cheap" "multi channel" ones that I am aware of are the Galaxy hot spot stereo models where you can send separate audio mixes to the left & right channels and split 2 receivers to mono earbuds--1 receiver to left and 1 to right. There are probably a few other compani...

WTB: working mono amp circuit board & power supply

I am looking for a super-small class-D amplifier circuit board with at least 200 watts RMS into 8 ohms. A mono amp out of a powered speaker would do the trick, but i am open to just about any small amp & supply. reply if ya got something that might work or if ya know of a DIY that only needs a t...

Re: Power question

We have two pv215 which are 700w continuous at 4 ohm. How should we size the power amp for that? The RMS on those are 350W and the peak is 1400W. I'd get an amp with some built in electronics & a limiter that puts out 700-1000 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. Under no circumstances would I get ...

Kayla, the problem doesn't sound like your power tubes, so I wouldn't mess with them...they generally last a lot longer than the preamp tubes anyway.

I have a few good 12ax7 preamp tubes if you'd like to use them to test it.

I read something about needing to be aware of the volume/tone pots that you use... some being 250k, 500k or 1m. From what I understand if you have the wrong volume/tone pot it can make a good set of pickups sound like complete ass. Anyone able to expand on that or tell me if that's a true statement...
