30 Something Nailed Again

Post by butthead »

Man, when the shit rains, it pours. I saw in the local Alttona Smear newspaper that 30 Something got nailed with 13 violations by the food inspectors....said they didn't even meet code. What's up with that?
Check it out.....

Looks like they're tryin' to nail Claudio any way they can....that sucks.

I'm sure they're not the only place around that got knocked. Some of the codes are tough to meet.

Read all about it...

 . 13 violations? Wonder what they were. I've played there for years. I worked at a local pizza shop at the same time. I don't know the entire code handbook but I know one thing, I've NEVER seen where Claudio didn't have his kitchen up to code. Way down here, we could use someone to come in and dish out a few ball bustings at one place I know of. You need to wear a hat or a hair net to keep your hair from falling into the food you're preparing. You are NOT allowed to wear sleeveless shirts so your arm pit hairs don't fall into food you are preparing. You have to wear closed shoes (no saddles or even crocs) to work. I'll leave it at that. Does someone have a chubby for Claudio? I've definitely seen that type of situation in the past.

When we opened the chilis up, they inspected alot. I remember a violation for having a dustpan/broom leaning against a wall instead of on the hanger thing.

Stupid little shit..

After college I helped my buddy get his restaurant off the ground. The inspector came on and gave us the whole wrap about the hair net or hat code. He also pointed out rings on my fingers...they all had to go...but...if it was a wedding ring...it was ok...ummm...is a wedding ring any less "dirty" compared to the other rings that were on my finger? Yeah...flip flops around fryer grease...big NO NO! Inspectors love to see the stainless steel too. There can NEVER be too much stainless in a restaurant...on the walls, on the ceilings, on the counters, on the...EVERYWHERE!

Trust me...cutting up my vegetables on the stainless steel countertop isn't going to make the bacteria from the human waste flooded crop fields any less harmful!

well I can see a health inspector saying no flip flops or open sandals near grease...

sometimes that shit burns (see also: every time) and if mandi individuality is emptying out the fryers and some grease makes it out of the shuttle, and onto her precious toesies... she's going to be wearing dressing on her feet for a couple weeks, and somebody will have to foot that bill.

other than that, i don't see any real problem with people making sure you're not putting balls of crack into fish sandwiches like this moron in Ohio did recently... just fucking comply... it'll cost you less in the long run

That reminds me of another stupid food-safe rule when I worked in a restaurant (and yea, I've heard of the wedding ring rule...totally illogical). No nail polish unless it is clear.
:?
I don't know how to feel about how they make public these food inspections now...I've worked in some REALLY CLEAN restaurants with great management that had violations here and there for stupid things. I don't know if thats fair to those places because the general public doesn't understand the stupid things these people look for. Some of it of course is important to uncover, and probably to make public as well.

Other than the mention JP made on their web site, is there an article anywhere in the Mirror regarding the benefit being held tonight at 30 Something?

I didn't read a single thing that would prevent me from ordering one of the 2 most DELICIOUS burgers I have ever tasted! (The Iron Horse in Gallitzin has the other one.) :D

Sounds like Claudio pissed someone off!!

I know I had things to say about him in that last thread, but I have to be honest - his place seemed clean. Not to mention - it almost seems like someone (with power) has it out for him and that just isn't cool.

(((If I have a problem with someone you can damn well be sure that they will know about it (and I'm not going to hit them below the belt!!))))

And, just for fun - (nothing to do with Claudio or his establishment)..... how many of you have been in some really nasty places, but the food was awesome?? I wonder if sometimes there is flavoring involved that we would rather not know about????

 THAT brings to mind the
"Married With Children" episode when Al had to have ashes in his grill to give what he grilled that SPECIAL flavor! Peg cleaned the grill  and then to replace them before he found out, well, let's just say they weren't ashes from charcoal.

Claire's in Asheville
Louie's Coral Lounge in Williamsburg (now defunct)
Spruce Creek Tavern

I love their food and follow a strict "Don't ask, Don't Tell" policy with the waitstaff.

Have you seen some of the places that Andrew Zimmern from the show Bizarre Foods eats? What about like Mexican street vendors? Do they need to be in "code"...I've eaten in some real shitty places myself. I'm gonna get some wings tonight too, in compliance or not!

I can think of a few places where the food was good, but I really didn't want to know what the kitchen looked like...

One I most vividly recall was a short-lived pizzaria in downtown Altoona about ten years ago. I forget the exact name of the place, but it was along 11th Avenue and the name ended with "Pizza-Teria & Subs." I was in there once to do a remote broadcast on Q94. When we arrived, the owner and his wife were having a knocked-down, dragged-out fight back in the kitchen. It was one of those notoriously loud Italian spats; we were expecting to see a flying rolling pin get propelled through the room! The place was pretty crusty, but the pizza actually was decent-tasting. We joked off the air that this place, "the Pizza-Terror-ia," served the "self-tossing pizza," complete with dancing pepperoni, and that people needed to watch out for the escaping round pie rolling out the door!

I actually ate there Tuesday night, the day the violations were printed in the paper. I hadn't seen the paper beforehand...not that it likely would have made much difference, based on what they got nailed for.

The fact that I can get crab legs, salmon and peel-and-eat shrimp as part of the all-you-can-eat for $9.95 price, makes me tend to forgive a few food inspection issues. And based by the crowd that was there that night, apparently not too many other people read or paid attention to the article, either.

I follow the strictest don't ask don't tell policy when it comes to Chinese food. I love it! So it might give an upset stomach for a couple of house. Pfft. A small price to pay for those tastey, tastey meals.

Here's a thought.

Let's deport all of the illegal mexicans and bring in more chinese people! Prices of would drop everywhere! The food wars would begin!
