I'm a diehard Green Day Fan... not very impressed with the single... I hope that the three albums coming have a little more to offer than "Oh Love".

Just what we need, another single from the uber-talented green day that 12 somethings all over can cover better than they can play it.....

That did very little for me. For some reason it reminded me of a bad REO Speedwagon tune...which is probably exactly what they were shooting for.

Sounds like a rip of this...at least the intro.

Big Green Day fan here as well. The tune was very interesting - love the production on Billie Joe's vocal. I'm not really big on the song, but I give props to Green Day for always evolving and changing while still remaining relevant. The same can't be said for a lot of their peers that lived and died in the 90s pop-punk era.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Green Day.The snot nosed ,baggy pants, version of Pearl Jam.My nephew won backstage VIP passes to meet them in the Burgh a few years ago.The rock stars never showed. What a great bunch of fellows. But hey i guess if you're older than 14 and still listening to Green Day you get what you deserve.Oh and that song sucks.

Great song!

Post by tornandfrayed »

I love the fact that Greenday is still around doing things on their own terms! I think that the song is good and might grow on me especially in context of the new releases. I always find it hard to know the first time I hear something whether I am going to love it or not down the road. Greenday albums always make me feel good, they are fun to listen to...

I hope they do well with this very ambitious release but if they don't oh well!

There is always next time!

I couldn't listen to it all. Sorry, I like some of Green Days stuff, but that song did nothing for me. It sounds like something he was in a hurry to throw together.

Edited to correct spelling

Curious to see

Post by tornandfrayed »

Curious to see the General Public reaction to this as opposed to the RP take on it. Seems pertinent to the other post related to "defining" success..

I wonder if Greenday had never made it would they have been happy playing locally or would they have felt different? Or does everyone define success by the level of their own achievements? Hence a band like Greenday would have a different definition of making it as opposed to a band like Bright Eyes or Eve6.. Or a local band that plays every weekend?

So, in essence, the circumstance would define the definition?

Just wondering..

Seeing as I'm just now catching this thread,... I've heard the song numerous times. I'm gonna say straight and simple... I don't like it. It's cheesy to a hard-to-swallow point. It's also very ripped (from other bands). Listen to it a little and you'll get my drift. I will say though, that the hook in it may some day get somewhere into my skull, and I may actually like this at some point in the future. I hate to admit that, but it's one of those songs that'll hijack my head's song player. I'm kinda hoping otherwise, but I won't leave it far inside the realm of incredibly unlikely
