Like Everyone Where to start, Some of My Faves

Metal Churchs Song "Fake Healer": I prey upon your Morbid fear of terminal disease - Quite possibly the best opening line for a song ever!

Faster Pussycats "Where There's a Whip there's a way: She grinds her leather like Liberace rhines a stone!

The Newlydeads "Submission" :
Gave me a cat that can hiss
Started with a lick and a kiss
As she said with a grin
As she wiped off her chin
You know its got to get better than this

Stuffing my bones in a box
Spanking's and changing the locks
As she said with a smile
I'll simply drive you senile
I'll make you wear my pink frilly socks

Yeah Taime Downe was one of my favorite songwriters!

Just a few, There are many many more!
Club Sandwiches, Not Seals!

"Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds" The Meatmen

"The northstar always guides me when winter skies are gray" Manaowar

"The world today is such a wicked place
Fighting going on between the human race
People give good wishes to all their friends
While people just across the sea are counting the dead" Black Sabbath

"A coffin is ugly a coffin is sad, destined to be one's last pad" DRI
Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug.

RUSH ... TIME STAND STILL ...
Summer's going fast, nights growing colder
Children growing up, old friends growing older
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

"... I know they're only words, that everybody uses
...But, to me, they're flowers that grew out of scars and bruises..."-- Skip Ewing, I Could Not Bring You Me

"... I used to be lonely, 'til I learned about living alone..."-- REO Speedwagon, Keep Pushin' On

"...Today - skies are painted colors from a cowboy cliche'..."-- John Mayer, 3X5, also done by the Infamous Stringdusters

...plus tens of thousands more. Certain lyrics can hit me like a baseball bat, even if I don't like the style or even the rest of the song. I don't really care for Eminem's music, but he's a genius lyricist.--->JMS

Not my favorite song. Or even my fave Bad Religion Song.

But a lyrical homerun.

BAD RELIGION LYRICS

"Sorrow"

Father can you hear me?
How have I let you down?
I curse the day that I was born
and all the sorrow in this world

Let me take you to the herding ground
where all good men are trampled down
Just to settle a bet that could not be won
between a prideful father and his son

Will you guide me now for I can't see a reason
for the suffering and this long misery
What if every living soul could be upright and strong?
Well then I do imagine

There will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more

When all soldiers lay their weapons down
or when all kings and all queens relinquish their crowns
Or when the only true messiah rescues us
from ourselves it's easy to imagine

There will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more

There will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more

Yeah there will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more
"You are now either a clueless inbred brownshirt Teabagger, or a babykilling hippie Marxist on welfare."-Songsmith

I wanna lock Betty Crocker in the kitchen
And knock her upper during supper
Clutter up her butter gutter
Hostess Ding Dong wrapped an eggroll around my wong
While Dolly Madison proceded to ping my pong
Your Milky Way is M'n'M in your britches
And I'll tell you Baby Ruth it looks mighty delicious

Cold - "Bleed" (AKA "Thirteen")

"Take all these strings
They call my veins
Wrap them around
Every fucking thing
Presence of people not for me
I must remain in tune forever
My love is music
I will marry melody
"

Anyone that knows me knows those lines were coming

Aside from that,... Damn... There're probably literally thousands of lines that I can type out that hit home every time I hear them. I really can't even think of any more right now cos it's such a blur of words

"Live music's here to stay
Professor Price will show the way
It's in the air, it's everywhere
The "Backyard Rocker" rocks!"

-"Backyard Rocker Rocks" - Felix & the Hurricanes

(Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

In a more serious vein, this one by Tom Petty has special meaning for me:

"And there goes the last DJ
Who plays what he wants to play
And says what he wants to say
Hey, hey, hey
And there goes your freedom of choice
There goes the last human voice
And there goes the last DJ"

I'm just surprised you didn't post them earlier in the thread

"And out come the wolves their paws trampling in the snow the alphabet" RANCID "Junkie Man"

"Baby I have been here before I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you. I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah" leonard Cohen "Hallelujah"

"I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doin' here? I don't belong here" Radiohead "Creep"

"So you can made me cum That doesn't make you Jesus" and "Those demigods With their nine-inch nails And little fascist panties Tucked inside the heart Of every nice girl" Tori Amos "Precious Things"

"Yes, I know all about that other guy The handsome man with athletic thighs
I know about all the times before With that obsessive little rich boy
They might think you think youre happy Yeah maybe for a minute or two
They cant make you laugh No they cant make you feel the way that I do" Everclear "I will buy you a garden"

"there's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated" NOFX "Idiots are Taking Over"

"When I think of heaven Deliver me in a black-winged bird I think of flying down into a sea of pens and feathers And all other instruments of faith and sex and God In the belly of a black-winged bird." Counting Crows "Rain King"

"Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind" the Doors "Peace Frog"

hmm...all I can think of at the moment...I'll maybe post later on about it though
Worth dying for. Worth killing for. Worth going to hell for. Amen.
