Anyone who turns down a position with Fuel when the only thing worthwhile they've done so far is American Idol deserves the "Assclown of the Year" award.
I love the fact that this guy turns down the Fuel gig, then his first single is "Hemorrhage (in my Hands)" with different, worse lyrics ...

Can't stand:

• Nirvana — Cobain was a shitty guitar player, a crappy singer and, IMO, was an average songwriter at best.

• Red Hot Chili Peppers — For the same reason as some have cited for not liking Nickelback: It's cookie cutter crap with awesome bass lines. They deliver the same sound and EXACT monotone rap-like cadence for verse structure in every effing song. Please, make it stop.

• Zepplin — Sorry, but for me, it's all about Plant's voice. Nails on a chalkboard.

Just because you don't like his voice doesn't mean you can say they never deserved a record deal. That's a shitty remark on your part because you are a musician and some people won't like your music or whatever instrument you play. You should know that. I don't even know you, but you're in Bad Daze, and I dont know what kind of music you play but you should know that some people just won't like it for whatever reason. If you were in the position to be signed I don't think one person of a band should or would be the deal-breaker. So you can't justify that comment as being an actual answer to the question asked just because the singer annoys you. Why don't you worry about making more of a valid and substance-based comment if you're going to make outlandish statements like that.

Yup, this was the Backstreet Boys of the 70's. Remember kids, the Sex Pistols were a manufactured band...

Apparently pissed off a Zepplin fan. You must be in the effing band to take my post so damned personally.

Dude, I never said they didn't deserve a record deal. The topic of the thread is, "worst band to get a record deal" not, "What signed bands didn't desserve their record deal?"

I can't stand Led Zepplin and Plant is the reason why. IMO, obviously not IYO, Zepplin's music as a whole is unappealing because I do not care for the vocalist's sound. And yes, I'm well aware that not everyone on the planet is a fan of bad daZe. If they were, I'd be sitting by my pool in Malibu, not preparing to cover a goddam township meeting later tonight.

Others have pointed out in this very thread that they like other bands instrumentally but don't like the vocalist (Creed) and no Creed fans are crying. Geez.

I justify my statement simply: I'm entitled to dislike Led Zepplin, no matter how big of a fan base they have and no matter how much you apparently like them. I'm a free American entitled to opinion.

I don't like crab legs either, but that doesn't mean they aren't popular and don't belong on the menu at Red Lobster.

Sorry for peeing in your corn flakes.

Ya know, this has actually turned out to be one of the most amusing threads in a long time. Basically: "WHAT!?! You believe (Insert Band you like here.) shouldn't have been signed??? How DARE you!" Then commences the sometimes vehement defense of said Band. Everyone is entitled to their dislikes and opinions. There are some I agree with, some I don't, but it doesn't really matter. I can almost certainly assure you the ones who are signed and successful really don't care WHO likes them as much as you do. :D

I'll give them the respect they deserve, they've probably influenced many of the people who've influenced me. They've developed a place in rock history that can't be denied, and in their own right, they'd became more than most bands of their era

But then in all reality, most of their songs to me are overly hokey, really out of anything I'd consider ingenius. They, in their time, can be compared to most of the aforementioned bands by the way they wrote, the way they played, and how much I think they sucked. Although, I will say they wrote one song that I'll always consider a great song... Behind Blue Eyes. Save for that one song, between their arrogance and their horrible sound (to my ears at least), they'll always be in one of the pits of music in my mind
One of the best rock bands of all time with one of the greatest rock bassists of all time.

There's alot that don't "desserve" it. I don't own one single Led Zepplin album. I don't consider myself a huge fan, but I do like them. The content in the beginning of this thread was "worst band to get a record deal" then it turned into bands that don't deserve a record deal. It's hard to understand a person's tone on a messageboard. The tone of everyone's post made it seem like the bands they were talking about didn't deserve it or "desserve" it.. You can't pull the whole"it's my opinion" thing and make it justified because your previous statement was completely unfounded. You said they are the worst band to get signed, just on the voice, apparently you didn't read when I said "one person wouldn't/shouldn't be a deal-breaker. That's just bad musicianship to me.

Yes, I can pull the whole, "It's my opinion" thing because ... it's my opinion. I listed them with two other acts (and there are others) that I "can't stand." To me, IMO, the three acts I listed are among the "worst bands to get signed" ... in my opnion.

Here we go with another food analogy. I love bacon cheeseburgers. I could eat one every day. However, if the federal government passed a law that all bacon cheeseburgers consumed in America must be served with a slathering of peanut butter, then I would no longer like bacon cheeseburgers. One bad element can ruin the entire product.

For me, Plant's voice is the peanut butter that ruins the whole burger, even though I'm sure I'd love the beef patty, the bacon, the cheddar cheese and everything else on it if it weren't coated with peanut butter.

That's some pretty heady company.

Dylan has had a limited acting career and was in several films.

As an actor, Roger Daltry was in more that 20 films.

That's an interesting chunk of meat, isn't it?

I think I love this thread. We've chewed each other out, jumped on each other, had opinions that in person, some would be thrown into an electric fence for, and yet we've only just begun!

Rob, I agree dude. One person CAN turn the whole sound of a band upside down. I've already cited a prime example based off my opinion of sound, so I'm gonna go back to looking around on Rockpage, then go find something to eat. Your ranting and food comparisons have all made me hungry! If anybody wants to send me some food before I finish reading the rest of Rockpage, feel free!
