I'm not going to take sides because I only heard one side of the story. I'm gonna have to agree with most of what Hawk said. For any multi band show (benefit or not), there must be careful planning and you need to stick a schedule. I find it very frustrating when your timeslot is cut short by poor ...

It sounds best when get an airtight fit that can block out most of the acoustical sound.

FloodCity...have you ever just went Processor to PA? Is this a viable way to go if so? Before I pull the trigger and buy a Floor Processor I want to get some more intell from the field... or just bring the Small Amp... Thanks so far! I haven't personally done a processor only. 120 Watt Fender Mustang IV (2 12 Combo amp)
PS - This is going to cost you a ton of money to take it on a plane. Probably at least $75 per trip. There's typically about a 50lb limit before they start charging. Plus you better have a nice flight case for amp.

Many smaller touring acts only carry minimal stuff. Guitar/bass players might only carry a guitar and pedals. Drummer might only bring some sticks and cymbals. But these touring acts have enough authority to specify required back line equipment months in advance. It is up to the venue/promoter to ta...

I think it's because there are more flavors of rock played by bands today. I would guess that in the 70's, most rock bands played top 40 songs. They probably played mostly rock and mixed in whatever other type of top 40 music was on (soul, funk, disco).... Nowadays I think bands are more focused. Yo...

Fake or real is not relative. I'm going to defend the artist here 1) Her singing is ok 2) Her playing possibly is ok (not complicated music) but the guitar is in need of a bad tuning. Most likely its completely out of the live mix. Beyond that... 1) I do a ton of LIVE recordings of different bands a...

We can debate publicity, money, reputation, etc.

However the rudeness of the manager is uncalled for. It's rude to waste anyone's time. He could have simply saved you a trip in to the place by stating his band hiring policy when you talked to him the first time.

New iPhone/iPad app I wrote

There's a new tuner on the market. I partnered with Otreus, Inc. and published a tuner app for iOS. It's very accurate can tune the lowest strings a 5 string bass.
Check it out.

It's a chicken or the egg problem.

Unfortunately it will be more important to play for publicity rather than money in the early stages.

Been there and done that in numerous projects.

My comments about rock page.net: I am appreciative of rockpage.net even though the traffic is down. You get a free site that does not cost you dime. You don't get spammed with email. You don't get ridiculous ads on the pages. It's a good old fashion web that works and does not crash. I don't know wh...

Eugene and Roy Clair started "Clair Brothers" (now known as Clair Global) in the 1960s in Lititz, PA. It has grown to be the best and most awarded sound company in the industry. I can't explain how much this company has revolutionized the sound industry. Take a drive through Lititz, PA and...

I have acquired too many amps. I'm looking to sell or trade. Trade items I'm interested in are something like a PRS 513, fender/gibson guitars, fender basses. I'm not interested in ANY PA gear or electronics gear (pedals, processors, recorders). Only looking for instruments. PM me with any cash or t...

Last summer we played 12 weddings. That's quite a few given the fact that the wedding season is somewhat short around here (May-October). So I am guessing we played about 100 weddings over the past 10 or 11 years. I have to chime in here and provide some insight. Weddings are not for every band. Whe...

We play weddings and I promise it won't be one continuous time compressed beat.

So if anyone out there knows of a bride and groom looking for a pro band that plays weddings, send them my way.
